All go in race prep land; Front fork oil has been done, I've given the word for braided front lines/sintered pads to go in, as well as a race chain to be put on. Did some more sanding today after work (while there was still sunlight at least.) Also ordered some levers from Hong Kong. <$50 for both levers, and I got to choose the colours (blue levers, silver adjuster.)

I will have spent so much time off the bike getting things ready, that come time to actually go around the track, I'm going to suck!
track day is on 17th of October so get ready

    I'm guessing you meant september.
I'm keen. Will have to grind the side stand a little and grab a paddock stand beforehand (also the bike will be looking ugly as hell, as most panels are in a semi-sanded state.

Surely you get her painted up by middle of October? Prep is a time consuming job but at least it's easy.

Btw just noticed an oil leak this morning under the bike. Interesting thing is it's a few droplets of black sludgey oil and it's coming down the stand, from where the chain meets the bike.
The bike oil isnt that dark (it got an oil change recently, and is way cleaner than what was under the bike this morning).
Oil level is fine, could it perhaps be some sludge off the chain? Never noticed anything before, and oil drops tend to make one nervous.

Could be chain lube gunge build up pooled inside the front sprocket cover and leaking down from there?

Yes oil leaks do make one nervous. My left fork seal has a slight leak so got the seals booked in for replacement next Wednesday.

You realise even on bikes, the traffic will be crazy?

You know how right hander corners are generally thought of as more difficult...

Does that mean that lots of people leave skid marks in tighty righties?

    ^_^

I work on Fanshawe Street in town, so come 6 I'm off to the pub for a beer and pizza waiting for the ceremonies to kick off. Good luck to anyone travelling anywhere this afternoon!

I got under the bike and it looks like it's coming from the front chain sprocket or back of the gearbox, and it is sludgey, like chain sludge. Sump and surrounding areas seem clean. Probably nothing but yeah, always a little alarming.

It occured to me that you could really screw with someones head by putting a few drips of oil under their bike every night. That would drive me nuts.

Btw second hand VTR light = $65. That'll teach me to not look where I park.

Well, I guess its a cheapish lesson! Nothing that money couldn't fix! As for the crowds, I'll be in the comfort of home - my girl is a bit ill, so keeping her company!

We went to "party central" the other night, it was a bit lame ... just one big piss up place really! Easy for the police to control - just bring in the fire fighting boats and let rip!
