Back when I worked at motor reg, and the three-letter-1-to-3-digit plate series was coming up for manufacturing, a memo went 'round listing what wasn't going to be allowed. It was a list of all the three letter combinations they wouldn't print. "God" etc.
I don't recall them thinking that far ahead...
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
Yep, we did the same thing, for the same reason, and we did it fifteen years ago too. More than paid for itself due to the awareness it raised and the sales it generated. No regrets.
I have a personalised plate on my bike as well, but i didn't pay $900 for that either. When i purchased the bike in boxes eight years ago. the plate was included in the deal. It was a bit mangled, but I ordered a replacement through the Remake 0800 phone number, and it was only about $20 from memory.
I agree that personal plates are too expensive and far too many are, shall we say, far too subtle for most people to know what they mean, some, too, are plain dumb! I'd never spend that much money on a plate if not for business, unless I was super rich and had a specific type of car that could wear a unique and clever plate.
As a business, it is a business expense and the GST is claimed back of course. I discounted magnetic signage as it can scratch the paint if one is not very careful and can be removed by unscrupulous types. Vinyl signwriting has its place, but I wanted subtlety and a plate is very clear and easily seen esp in traffic. Message plates keep the car tidy and stand out like the proverbial. Of course, if I change my vehicle it is far cheaper to transfer as well.
Hey when you've got a car as classy as mine, you want to keep it looking smick!![]()
