I think that having had almost a year off riding (apart from up and down my driveway!) I'm going to retire until 2013 when we'll be back on two incomes so I can afford something worthwhile.
    Nice Willdat
It's surprising where they will go, so long as your not worried about paintwork and dents

Anyone else heading for Greymouth next weekend ?

Going to head up Hira this afternoon and have a go at getting out the steep end of the gun club valley.

Well I found some more gorse.
Oh and a small mx/enduro track in the woods, rocks, rivers. Was beginning to wonder if I was going to find a way out...
A nice little 3hr pootle. Next time I'm taking the chainsaw. The pruning saw and shovel got a good workout but some things call for more brutality...

    Coupla things

I'm doing some long-ish night-ish tarseal rides to get some seat time prior to the 1000 miler and Long Weekend Rally. If anyone is keen for some evening pootles in the next few weeks, let me know. eg popped over to Takaka last night, roads and skies were clear from SE of Mot, was quite a nice ride, yet Meri says there was hail in town!! Other likely destinations are a loop Havelock-Picton-Blenheim-home, maybe around the block (Wairau valley) and Murch/Westport return.

Jen is keen to host a shed night since she is getting cabin fever! Wed this week is good for me, and yep I'm keen for someone to bring a welder and skillz. I managed to snap the weld on one of my tyre levers while removing an aged tyre - it took three of us to get the thing off Now wondering if I should buy a ring/open 27mm and cross-breed it with a tyre lever, to replace the dodgy 27mm from the OEM toolkit - or if I should/could strengthen the OEM one.

btw Topo, did you have a KDX200 rat bike? I think I've found it.
    Cheers,
    Colin

Maybe I should get the Big going again.... I'd like to join in for a long evening ride but the little bike would be a bit slow I think

If by shed nite you mean beer, pizza and bullshit, then I'd be keen

Have you thought about getting one already made up ?... I have seen them at Filco, or are they the wrong size spanner ?

Hmmm, it's not about speed but time/endurance. Legal cruise is all that's needed, but having said that, I don't muck about either.

No, but good idea since this time I'm actually going to have to buy a spanner to cut. Nearly $30 for a 27mm, and they are a bit heavier than I need. Purpose-built may be better.

I've got Woodmans welder ready to go & minimal skills. It's not tht hard if you want to experiment. I don't know if i'd make the shed nite cos I don't know where jen is living now- has she been kicked out of the nunnery yet? I can drop it round to your place or you can pick it up if you want to have a play.

I went for a nice pootle today over the Moutere hills, Old coach, Pomona harley rds etc. What a fantastic day to ride. I quite like this road riding thing - very relaxing.

    Drive shafts- I like driveshafts

I'll be there, last outing on the XR as a motard before it goes back into adventure trim for the summer and DB1K! Although Nelson S/R and the Beach race may get a look.......I cant let all you Nelson boys have all the fun. I did the last beach race on the Back Beach before the fun police killed that off!

'k, scored one of these today from Morleys (cheaper than Cycletreads' discount rate, too):

Nice and sturdy without being quite as heavy as a normal ring/open spanner. "Pro" tyre lever tip looks a lot flasher than my old skool cast levers.
