Waikanae Wellington Wairarapa Wascals January 2012

After nipping over to do Molesworth and Rainbow I'll be back in Waikanae to deplete my girlfriends liquor cabinet at New Years. When sober again around 2nd January I plan to head over the Wimutakas to Hastings then eventually back to Auckland to feed the dog.

Love to ride some of your gravel down there as I've done none of it. The pylon track and Sutherlands are must dos, are they restricted access? How do I get there? I have the gravel maps saved from Rosies thread down there the other week. Where else is good?

If you're about then-ish be good to met up for some fanging fun. No fixed dates to be anywhere as I'll be gainfully unemployed (contracting scum).

ps I can bring my own liquor cabinet

    We'll look after you.

Sutherlands Hutt isn't restricted access. The Pylon track is supposed to be restricted access, but that isn't enforced AFAIK.

    which is the pylon track?
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Ah yep, was up there in the snow a few weeks ago...the concrete blocks at the entrance were moved to block bike access. Luckily the AT is apt at clearing blackberry and scrub...

I'm In..Not much work going on that time of year for me...also, would be a good warm-up before I head down to the Dusty Butt - anyone else want to tag along for that???

Thinking of heading to the South Island myself for Christmas break....Could be heading back up north around the same time as you.
Fairly recent thinking so I'm not sure whether I'll take the XT or the SV.....but I shall keep an eye on this thread

Yeah I might head to Hastings after New Years, stick around for a few days and see if things improve.
