Oh dear! Just watched your "serious crash" video. What can I say
Rather than giving you the flaming you deserve i'll instead say:

You're doing lots of fundamental things wrong. Your road positioning has large scope for improvement.

I'm concerned enough to offer you my time.

Trailer the bike down to Taupo when you've recovered. I will personally help you learn to ride properly. Safely. We'll cover road craft, a trackday (with tuition, including being pillioned to see what smooth relaxed inputs feel like) and low speed handling (gymkhana).

Hay, I understand where ya coming from Katman, even I gave the kid some shit for riding around like a tool.
But at least he had the guts to share with us all, and to also acknowledge the fact that he was completely at fault and riding well beyond his abilities.
I just thought maybe were coming down a little hard on a young rider for learning the "hard way"....after all, we were all young, dumb and bullet proof at some stage in our life.

Just glad the kid didn't kill himself and has shown remorse and understanding regarding his actions....and hoping he hasn't been scared off this site (and bikes!) due to the amount of shit he's getting.

I'm reluctant to call it training as I don't have an I endorsement. One wouldn't want to upset people who are "qualified" to instruct. Let's call it guidance instead.

Good opportunity for a how to / how not to vid I think.

Much more beneficial for other riders to see two versions of what you should and shouldn't do, so as they can work out which category they fall into themselves. And improve themselves accordingly. Get others to come to the conclusion themselves, that they need to improve, before it is made painfully obvious.

My only other comment on this, is that if you are going to film clips of riding straight on motorways doing stuff, let there be at least a few decent wheelies or stoppies, not just accelerating into the distance. Straight-line speed only impresses the gay boys

Also, if you are going to post videos of you riding in a manner that suggests you are breaking the law, it would be a good idea to obscure the license plate in the video. Otherwise RC & SD & Co. could perhaps suggest to their colleagues in the local area to run a plate check to help protect innocent motorists

That said, just get back out there, take it easy, and hit some really tight twisty roads at a pace you are comfortable with, and practice putting smooth lines together. There are plenty of roads around Auckland and its surrounds where you can have some real fun at road legal speeds. Start slow, build the pace up slowly until you are consistently riding with good lines and understand how your bike will behave in corners if you hit bumps, uneven surfaces etc. and you are comfortable correcting the bike from these incidents.

See i was a little worried about the wheelies (cant do stoppies) ill practice them more plus the road was a little damp. The only reason it was all on the motorway was i was helping a friend out with some straight line filming for a project of his otherwise i would have been in the dairy flats

I used to follow a wise old mate, (before he got made a bitch ). There would be a piece of road which he could straight line for bloody ages. Instead, he would flick from corner to corner like he was doing it in his sleep. He said to me "bikes are for corners; corners are for bikes. Wants the point in riding if you want to go straight?"

It's so much more fun flick a bike into late apex 20km/h slower then twisting the throttle and straight lining.



Gotta admit, I had a bit of a giggle when you just went straight ahead. Without hearing or seeing what else was happening it looked like you found an invisible road!

I was bloody surprised how quick the bike and you stopped. When I "learnt my lesson" ( ) I was going a crap load slower but was riding out on a grass verge, scrubbed off more speed, then tried jumping a culvert. I landed no where near the bike. It was like you hit a brick wall. Crazy stuff!

I was Heavy on the brake, lucky a lovely member on here showed my the proper way to brake also thanks to NASS! otherwise i would have grabbed a full hand load not just two fingers worth and flew over the bike.
