Two weeks away!

Two weeks from now we'll be on our way from the USA to NZ (Henderson, Kumeu area?). My bike is going over with our household goods and should be there around Christmas. Seems a bit long but I expected that with the timing. May even have some extra room so I've been putting together a wish list of things to take with us (rear tire, filters ,better rain gear)

I've been getting conflicting info on what to expect on the NZ side of things. I know it'll have to go through customs, MAF, and then certified, rego, etc. I'm trusting the shipper has a grasp on things and nothing gets stuck sitting because of the bike. Either way I should be a new Kiwi(US)-Biker by the new year! Now I've just gotta learn to stay on the LEFT SIDE!!!
Thanks for the great tips in helping me sort alot of this stuff out.
Anyone have a suggestion on bracing/chocking a bike to ship uncrated in a container??
Lookin' forward to catching all the good riding spots once we're there and maybe meeting up with some of ya.

Depends on where you are working, but Kumeu is 10x better place to live compared to Henderson.

2 weeks will go REAL quick!

Exciting times eh!

So long as the bike is stock and you have cleaned it thoroughly, you'll be fine.

When I brought my bike over from the UK, I rode it on a UK plate for a few months before getting compliance and rego. One issue for you may be the LHD/RHD head lamp projection. My present bike has synchronous beams which means it is OK for either side of the road, but you will need to check and potentially have to get an NZ reflector lens kit.

Regarding strapping the bike down in your container, your shippers will no how to sort that out and also deregister it from your home state.
