    Leatham river valley

A few pics of the Leatham valley..
Went 22k up the left branch to
Cave hut ...still another 16k or more to go..
nice ride with so gnarly river crossing...
I thought better of attempting the river
crossing into the right branch... Quite
    remote to attempt alone....
The Leatham Valley is in behined
Lake Argyile & runs parallel to the
Rainbow Valley on the Blenheim side..

There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

It's been a number of years since I was last in there, but......From Barbers hut, Leatham, it turns into a walking track, You used to be able to drive past the hut, accross a slip and the valley opened out again. DAMHIK
The Branch river has some rather large boulders in it, axle breaking things they are. After the crossing it's a nice track up to the last hut then from memory it got a bit loose and shitty for about another K, the track stops at a small carpark where a walking track takes over, awsome views.
Raglan range, above Branch river, is another track worth checking out. Where the track finishes your looking down on the single lane bridge over the Wairau, once again, awsome views from the top.
I have a contact number for the owner of the private land at the start.Although it may be out of date.
