Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death. (HT)
Congratulations to Andrew Adlam, three years in a row!![]()

Well I saw you were right next to that other chap & thought I might be able to drag you along a bit faster with some advice. Did the same for Will later.
It was a bit of a hollow victory, my main oponent for the last 20 years Dave Dip had his bike seize solid in practice. That said it was still nice to ride a different track. In the end it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. only 4 years ago it could have gone to any of 4 riders. Need some more coming through on the 50s. Andrew needs to finish his Yamaha & Fishe ride his 50.
Congrats to Andrew. Rode like a true champ. I got to see the race from my broken down spot in the 100 (flywheel scraped to bits) & saw Hoogie coming so was waving from the sidelines as I don't think Andrew was aware & just trying to keep fuel going (tiny tank).

He's the only one I've got.
Congratulations Andrew. 3 in a row against the best you should be very happy. Also congrats to Alistair Very impressive watching you ride again. And also Gavin for 3rd Great ride.
Excuse list
Gearing to tall.
Practice: Gear linkage broke.
Qualifying: New borrowed linkage fell off 2 lap / Thanks Again for the borrow Simon.
Qualified 27th
Had to change shifting pattern from race shift to street.
Race 1: 7th and not liking the shifting
GP: 4th Had a good race but just could not get to the front fast enough to make a race of it At one stage I was making in roads on gavin but he was to far up the road. From 27th to 4th isn't that bad really.
Teams Race was fun. Bit quicker on the drying track heaps of fun. Looked like Cam jones was nominated as the sacrificial lamb for the southern team diving under Andrew crashing and almost taking him down as well. Nice tactic boys. I will examine the footage very closely for any sighs of foul play. Will remember that one for next year. Hamish your it. Also go the wellington team. 2nd with only 5 starters, with Pumba gaining temporary citizenship for the race. Thanks mate. Your visa is now revoked.
Good on the southern boys for making the trip. Lets do it all again soon. Very soon in fact.
I will post a little bit of video today so people can get a taste for the conditions we had on the day.
Yeah it was a good effort by the southerners to get that many people up for the event, pity it rained & also that it wasn't on the other track at Taupo, but as you could see from the smoke some Boi racers were pointlessly destroying tyres.

Hi all thought I would write a few notes. I had a blast. Was very nervious before the races. I was very suprised and pleased to be on pole. In the GP race I was cutting it a bit fine with Al on the charge. I had backed off to save fuel and tryed to keep out of lapped traffic. I hope I didnt offend to many people with my hand signals! I almost lost it on the pit straight when a slower bike pulled into the white line as I'm charging up the inside. I decided not to try that manouver again and go on the other side of the traffic.
Sorry for Rich starting from 27 bummer. Still 4th very good.
Congrads to David on the F5 victory Well done.
Nice to put some names to faces and catch up.
Big thanks to the southners that came up well done.
Big Thanks to Adrian for taking me up and Chris his brother for the technical help. Pitty MMZ didnt help to relince Adrian so he could race the GP. Also for the suport of the other Wellington riders.
Might have to build that slightly larger tank for next year eh? How much of the 3.5l did you have left?

Huge thank you to team Robson for the loan of a clip-on. Saved my day after a stupid tip over at the end of qualifying. Think I nearly took Samantha down with me oops !!
Didn`t have any wets so went out for the GP on slicks and managed a very slow finish, appolgies to all the fast guys who went past/around/through me if I held you up.
Still a great day out, roll on march !!
Proper race report:
"There are good and bad aspects to today’s race. On the positive side, we reduced the gap to the front, and the others in front of me weren’t so far ahead. On the other hand, I’m obviously not happy with 16th place, because our goal was to do better than that. To tell the truth, we really could have done a little better today but last night we thought of a change to try this. The change worked quite well, so we found ourselves at a crossroads as to whether or not to blindly use it in the race. We tried it, and that may have been a mistake because the bike moved a lot on corner entry. It was sliding, and I didn’t have enough grip, so I was stuck for the whole race, unable to attack. Otherwise, I think I could have had a slightly better pace and perhaps battled with them."
Will upload photos later on, thanks for Grant taking them. Grant Captured Pedrosa crashing into Andrew, which was a enough of a hit to left the back wheel.
Yes the track got very slippery in places, in particular those white lines were lethal.
Glad the decision was made to remove the hay bales which would have been a nightmare.
When it was looking like being wet for qualifying I had a huge moment out of the sweeper onto backstraight. I powered on too fast & the rear kind of stepped a bit throwing me toward the white line (there's a bit of a bump that makes it worse) then I was on teh white side of the track & the bars just turned full lock to the left & I sledded along like that for ages & brought the bars back to then it deposited me back ont eh track, but with the bars now the other direction. Eventually it came back. Don't know how. Gave the thumbs up for people following me.
Then the next turn down the hill hit the join bump leant over & got a heinous tank slapper. By the time I got to the 50 race & it was awash & I was on slicks, part of my plan was to pick the bike up quickly when I crashed & hope nothing was broken. Strangely that wasn't required.
In the 100 race I'd changed to wets & it took me a few laps to adjust to quantum levels more grip. Then I got cramp & the bike stopped.
