Righto, Just booked a ferry crossing for me and the bike, I'm going to Christchurch to see the current project the rest of the family are working on, I'm told its an eleven story building.

I'll be rolling through Picton about 5.45pm, which means its will probably be too late in the day to strike out for Christchurch (I don't know the place at all and have no accommodation sorted), so, what direction would I head in to find somewhere to park the bike and have a snooze.....

My gut feeling is to just wing it. But I don;'t want to end up fuck knows where with no where to park up and rest.

Head to Blenheim about 30 minutes. There isn't much after Blenheim for quite a while. There's a Bella Vista motel in Blenheim where the owner allowed me to put my ute in his garage as it was full of stuff . He's a biker.

State highway 63 looks interesting, Looks like it could tie in with a night in Blenheim.

...check the weather on either coast before you leave Blenheim...63 down thru Murchison and the Lewis Pass will be the coolest ride you could wish for on a good day..bad day too...

Christchurch is about 4 1/2 hrs from Blenheim ... there are plenty of places to camp on the coast, north and south of Kaikoura. (two hours south) Cabins available in some places near the beach ..

Daylight to about nine in the evening now ...

Winging it is the way to go ...

Severe gales and heavy rain are lashing central New Zealand, with forecasters warning of flooding and damage.

Northwesterlies over the lower North Island were strengthening this morning, and were expected to reach gale force at up to 130kmh today, the MetService said.
Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Wellington and Marlborough were warned that winds had the potential to damage unsecured structures, trees and power lines and make driving difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

Residents were advised to secure any loose objects.

Heavy rain was falling in western parts of Nelson, Buller, northern Westland, and the Canterbury Alps this morning
