The problem today is for many riders it costs a lot of time and money to go ride and practice. Back in the day you could jump on your bike and ride down the road to some open land, yet developed subdivision or motorway, even empty land between factorys that had jumps etc that everyone used to ride and no one cared about, it was so easy to ride every day and hone the skills. We used to head out after work and just ride until dark, only cost us our fuel, everywhere was free to ride.
I learned to ride off road in the local shingle pit. Doing exactly what you're talking about, quite illegal, but no one seemed to care, least of all the local cop: presumably because he knew where we were and if we were doing that we werent out getting into other trouble. Aye, them were t'days
