I haven't clicked on the OP.

I don't, but some do because nobody makes leather pants big enough for them - you can buy 6XL Chaps off the rack at H-D. Better protection than just denim.

They also offer heat protection for legs on a chopper if that is all they are after.

And some people just like to Cowboy Up, regardless of what the OP suggests.
