Awesomely cool that Chris is getting that kind of support for Dakar...

... but yes there is no reason what so ever to drink Red Bull.

Look up Taurine (I love telling people this fact).....and where it comes from!

Got a mate that works at the freezing works....where they smash the skulls open on sheep to extract the bile gland (snot pocket as he calls it lol)...to be stored in a 40gallon drum....which is then sent off to make....TAURINE!

    So there!....ya friggin snot drinkers!

    enjoy your redbull...and....your welcome

Well certainly beats the story that used to go around about it containing bull semen. But regardless, isn't any part of an animals body as gross as another if it worries you?
I found I used to get wicked headaches if I drank Red Bull during or after a ride. Then I heard somewhere that it contains an ingredient that thickens the blood something like 8%! That rang alarm bells with me as I wouldn't mind it thinning the blood but thickening it cannot be a good thing. So I stopped drinking it, no more headaches. But I do like the taste and will drink it with Vodka if getting tired from drinking beer.

Red Bull is based on a Thai tonic drink (the name of roughly translates to red bull), which used bull bile for the Taurine.

However, the Taurine used in the manufacturing process for Red Bull and similar products is entirely synthetic, they don't use the animal-based version.

It still is probably the worst thing you can possibly drink during or after exercise, so definitely avoid as a pick-me-up while out riding....

Even your spring 'water' is very likely to have been through an animal at some stage in the earth's history. No less pure though in its basic form.

Red Bulls the bizz...for a few minutes of racing anyway.
Once had a couple of cans before a race(actually about 4 and a few panadol to get over the hangover) and the mental as anything got the better. Ended up getting airlifted out and a few days in the horsepital with neck probs.
    Lesson learnt.

But the thread content is really about our best ever export in dirt biking since BT,and the King brothers and thats Birchy.

This is probably the only chance that he will get to have a chance to win what is arguably the most famous long distance race of all.

The auction is set to start 1st Jan and if someone snaps it up for the reserve then its a bargain.
