    Onamalutu status?

Does anyone know if the Onamalutu track (northern DB1K route) is open? might pop through after Xmas if it is.

The signs always used to say the road was closed... Closed to me means barriers. There's not a lot that's closed to trailbikes.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Pretty sure it was "closed" last time the D.B. was up here too, from memory they just took out a couple of bridges.
I vote you go and have a look, Guinnea

Was interesting they'd removed concrete bridges on a public road...

Wonder who owned the bridges though - Forestry firm or Marlborough Roads? If Marlborough Roads then very 'interesting'. Not all assets on legal roads are owned by road controlling authority.

that looks like the very spot where I snapped my chain on the 690 at the begining of the year. Lucky my brother who lives in onamalutu, managed a quick trip back on the 450 husky for some running repairs

    ....wherezz that track go

If it's "extremely hazardous" then they shouldn't be allowed to work in there...

OSH would have a field day...

    Other Roads

Right you Blenheim / Nelson guys, i have got a couple of hours to spare after getting off the Ferry next wednesday evening on the way down to the DB and was looking for some interesting roads to ride on a round-about route to Blenheim.

Looks like Onamalutu / Kiwi roads are closed, so anyone have any other (polite)suggestions
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

    From Picton to Blenheim...
The port underwood road...mostly gravel & you can take a deture around
the back of port underwood towards Fighting bay.. but its a no exit Rd..
    thats about it between Picton/Blenheim...

Leaveing Blenheim heading south theres either the Taylor Pass or the
Redwood Pass.... just after Seddon theres the Blind river Road that comes
back out on to the main road passed the salt works at lake grassmare..
these 3 are just small detures with a bit of Gravel...
