    Christchurch dirt bikers

Does anyone here in Christchurch who has a truck/trailer/van want to go out for a ride some time? I'm in Cashmere but I don't have any way to get my dirt bike to any trails. I'm happy to provide cash for fuel and there are some off road trails about 3km away from my house.

I'm just by the south end of Colombo St, theres a trail up Huntsbury drive (3.2km away according to Google Maps). It's not as good as the waimak, but it's still alright. This one goes all the way up to Summit Rd at the top of the hills.

Also another trail at the end of Worsleys Rd, but I've never checked it out.

Dunno what the Rapaki walkers/joggers and MTb people would be so keen-same with worsleys. Mcleans island would be a good place for you to start....

If it's on a weekday afternoon then there are hardly any people there, and if I stay out of their way there shouldn't be any problems. I've gone on the track at the end of Huntsbury Ave quite a few times in the past 6 years and the gates have always been unlocked all the way up to Summit Rd, and there are no signs saying that vehicles aren't allowed so it should be all good.

McLeans Island is good, but I don't have any way of getting out there except for my mates van but he's too pussy to go dirt biking because he keeps crashing.

Oh the memories! I used to live at the top of Huntsbury Ave, thats where i first learnt to ride on a Honda z50 ithink. There used to be a big quarry just up the road, all housing now thoguh. Rapaki track was another we used to do often. long before MTB was around, so only had to deal with all the walkers. Good luck for your riding!

Trouble is that I don't really want to ride a dirt bike around town. I've got a spare number plate that's de-registered that'll I'll put on the back.

We phrase it Demolition Mountain as a lot of the $$$ House's up here are slated for the big D , and don't come back.

I just went out for a ride there today, up the track at the end of Huntsbury Ave. I went up to Summit Road, then turned back and did some hooning around in a paddock.

Only on thursdays, but I work on thursdays and it's too late to go dirt biking by the time I get home.

Anyway, off to get a couple more cutting discs for the angle grinder in the morning, so I can finish the trailer.
