The OOPS award 2012 NZ Superbike Championships

For the 2012 New Zealand Superbike Championships there will be an OOPS Award at each around.
Awarded by the Commentators taking note on whose had a moment over the weekend that shouldn't really have happened.
First prize was judged to be Seth Deveraux but he did not attend prize giving so it was awarded to the next on the list Glen Skachill

Seth Deveraux, an Apprentice Motorcycle Mechanic crashed his Kawasaki 250 on the last lap of one race, picked it up but couldn't get it restarted and lost any chance of points for the race.
These bikes have a 'tip sensor' and to reset it it needed to be switched off then back on...

Glen Skachill put on a rear tyre for Qualifying, BACKWARDS.

Any titbits at the track you think may be worthy of an OOPS award let the Commentators of the day know and they'll put it on the sheet.

    mnz for sure

They changed the Streetstock rules to allow the use of tyres the riders have been requesting for years. A memo (22Dec) to all stewards explicitly noted the change, the new printed rule book had the change. So, in good faith a large number of young riders, who save up for and prepare for the 3 round McCleary junior cup are ready, with bikes compliant to these rules. AFTER the riders breifing they're called up to be told the rule change was a mistake, and last year's rules rules apply again. Effective immediately, IE you have 1 hour to comply. If you don't you'll be excluded from entering the track, even for untimed practice. Safe fun FAIR. Yeah right.....

I asked Jim Tuckerman if he will be as tough on the championship classes re compliance. he wouldn't answer the question.

Well we've already seen that with his bullshit with the sidecars

What was the reason given for running to the "old rules"?
In whose best interest was it to run to them?

The presentation of the OOPS award is a light hearted affair and it's also there to remind us that we're at the track for fun and have a laugh at each other in a SPORTING manner.
Please keep that in mind folks and leave other rants out of this thread.

It was definately turned on at round 1 prize giving when he told everyone, including about 10 kids under 7 in the front row about his wife getting the thumbs up at the Gyno earlier in the week! I am still laughing now as I type this.

As the other commentator down there , We decided between ourselves to bring this FUN prize in. It was me and spyda that decided Merv NOT MNZ ,or commission . It was us and we won't be doing anything like it at round 2 as it was a light hearted FUN award and has now turned in this. Losers are the riders.

I would like to thank everyone for your comments about our commentary , it is not an easy job and yes we make fuck ups. I would like also to state that after this season I will no longer be involved in the Road Racing world. I have had enough of , where do I start, Writing all the correct Supp regs , all the correct legal entry forms (after the first round fuck ups) , setting up the web coverage and compiling the points for the series , finding and introducing Grant Collingwood to Tim Gibbs to get the "Live Timing" and Streaming online. Getting sponsorship from RK Chain among others , the list goes on.

In fucking return over the last couple of seasons we have had comments that we choose to ignore, now it just gets to me , and I'm over it. As for sidecars they are their own worst enemy , 150 Streetstock love the concept but am over the bullshit ,this has been going on for the last six years well before the current MNZ admin. 250 Prolite love it , but the rules are the rules.

It must seriously be a bloody nightmare "no win" kind of job Chow. God bless you and others like you who step up for it. Loved the oops award. We needed a laugh after that meeting for sure and you and your crazy mate Jelly delivered.

Pirellis can go on backwards and still work as normal.

Well done to the commentators, not easy especially when the timing info you get has errors through it.
