Quick congrats to Neduro to Dakar for meeting his Dakar - The Ultimate Rally Race dream with complete success this weekend. Spoke to him this weekend and best quote was, "I started this race with about 14 hours on my bike's hour meter. I looked at it today and it was something like 120 hours on it now!" Brutal!

Sad news.... The Enduro world has lost a legend.... Mika Ahola died in hospital last night....
Thoughts and prayers to his family....
R.I.P Mika, Godspeed fella....

Shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Mika Ahola who reportedly died from injuries sustained during training in Girona, Spain. Mika won five consecutive world Enduro championships (E1, E2 and E3) from 2007 to 2011. Our sincere sympathies to Mika's family.

Mika Ahola (13 December 1974 -- 15 January 2012) was a Finnish enduro rider and a five-time world champion.
He was also a seven-time winner of the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) World Trophy with Team Finland, and was the fastest overall in the competition in 1999, 2001 and 2002.
Ahola debuted in the World Enduro Championship in a Husqvarna in 1993

To all you good people who have been following and supporting me over the last two weeks thank you!! Its been an incredible adventure. I dont have the words to describe this race. Western Springs Speedway is NZ’s premium track for Sprintcar & Midget car racing but is under attack (again) from locals that have moved into the area and have nothing better to do but complain.

Please take a minute to fill out this petition; it’s very important to us in the motorsport world.!!!!!!!!!! it’s a great family spectacle that we cannot lose.

Will be a $10 ride fee for riders attending.

Communal cook up for dinner on Sat night, also can be a cook-up for sun mng breakfast before we head off for either home or MORE gravel on the way home.
We also have a scenic place of interest to view on the Sun mng also, so bring cams along.

Pillions and partners also welcome as we have a car available during the day and there will be interesting places to look at also for your day.

Full days ride You may do as little or as much as you choose during your day.

Sue, at the risk of sounding an arsehole, do we need to be inundated with stuff about western springs? This is a forum about adventure riding , discussion about the sport and organising events / rides, not a blog for a whole load of disparate information.

IMHO, I would like to see this thread focus on the good stuff you are organising / doing by organising rides for the adventure community, particularly the number of new riders you are attracting to the sport.
