    Bye bye DR650

Well, short lived... Just was not me, ok road but lacking somewhat for what i wanted off road.

Almost went and bought a CRF and left adventure riding.

Sure there aint no perfect bike.... BUT this may be a few steps closer to what i want over the DR....

Does anyone have any info on this bike KTM 640 LC4 http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-435354767.htm

    Ktm 640

Quite a bit of useful info here. 2003 onwards are more powerful (hi-flow heads), & were assembled with a better source of bearings.

The 625SX after 2004 got the FCR39 carb.
IT'S JUST BETTER WHEN THERE'S TWINS INVOLVED..

Unusual to see an 02 without the 18L tank. I'd keep an eye out for one with that extra fuel capacity, the tanks are pretty expensive to buy new.

    Cheers

That one seems a bit overpriced to me, esp. as Clint says, without the optional 18L tank common at the time. Looks like Kenda K270 tyres which are the cheapest, nastiest tyres known to man. Cheap, but even on the tar you are sideways everywhere. Can be fun but gets a bit irritating when you actually want to get some power to the ground.

The SXC625 is a "hot", more off-road focused Enduro with many changes to make it more of a weapon.

Pre-'03 had a ball bearing behind the clutch that was prone to self-destructing, taking the rest of the engine with it. '03-on got an uprated roller bearing that is a worthwhile $100 retrofit.
    Cheers,
    Colin

Bought an 01 with 7800 miles (11000km) on it, in pretty mint condition, serviced last 8 yrs by same shop on synthetic oil.

Goes good, not too many vibes.

Tis now fitted with knobblies. Hand guards, longer pegs, sump guard, prob carb mods to come...

Oh and will be doing the said bearing, as mentioned they lunch and take the whole motor out for dinner!

Clint you have good eyes and know your stuff! I did not pick the smaller tank on the red and black ktm!

SO im guessing this is the 18L tank model!

If the XR was in the north island it may well have been in my shed now.
Lekkie leg, nice.. Pillion pegs gave me brownie points, means buying bits gets approval faster! LOL

You may be keen on a sandpit session?

If you're looking at doing the bearing replacement anytime soon, there's an LC4 gasket set on TM at the mo' for cheap.
