Yep it was a good ride today must have been in excess of 30 bikes.
Terrific ride that awakino gorge and great to put a few faces to names.
"Sorry Officer, umm.... my yellow power band got stuck wide open"
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....
Only problem I had was filling up at Urenui. Quite expensive gas...
So much for the "war on speed" - as pointed out, not a single copper anywhere down that way. I followed a pair of SUV's, north of Te Kuiti, passing everything on the road at well over the limit, (leaving me way behind of course.) Coz me, I was very good all the way...![]()

The main thing is he gets to ride another day
Good to hear the boyds ride went well. I decided I'd go for a little putt putt to Mata Mata to do some visting on Saturday. There really are cool roads out that way.
When I told Brooke I was thinking of going on the Boyds ride, she told me I should of because then I could have followed her back home! Oh well, busy bloody weekend anyway. Only had time for one ride.
Now I gotta break the piggy bank so I can fill the bike for this weekend.
10 bikes left the Hotel at 10am with Shona showing off her new Gladius and D&M not coming after being to tired from their 3,000km south island trip.
Great conditions and good roads. Surprisingly everyone was in cruise mode and the 10 bikes pretty will ran as one group most of the way. Stopped at Kaiaua for a nice lunch and drink and decided to head back Clevedon way. All going great until Marks suspension stuffed out and locked up his back wheel. Nice tyre track and cloud of tyre smoke but he did well to keep it upright and not come off. Parked it up, pillioned back to hamilton. Many many thanks to dave and Tony who arranged a trailor back in Hamilton and went and picked it up. Last I heard at about 8.00 pm last night they were heading back with the bike. Back to the ride, we stopped at mercer for a Frappe (ask Kevie what that is if you dont know) and the guys orgainised the bike pick up then and staright back to Hams. Approx 265kms and good weather throughout and good company. Great to see the offers of help and assistance.
Caught up with Milan later in the day and planned a ride for next Monday (Waitangi day). Going to do Kihikihi, Mangakino, old taupo road, Arapuni, karapiro. Approx 220km with lunch at the Bus Stop cafe (NO EFTPOS). Some of the best roads in the Waikato so start arranging the day off and get your weekend work done on the Saturday & Sunday to leave Monday free. leaving Kingsgate Hotel carpark at 10 am and breakfast deal on from 9.00 am. Its in the calendar
