I had a rego label fall off the bike not so long ago - it was in one of those stupid metal and plastic display cases and the bolt must've vibrated loose or summat. Dunno how long it was AWOL but didn't get any ticket. Postshop got me a copy no problem. Nowadays I stick 'em on with that double sided tape they give ya. It sits on the tail tidy just above the plate.

It is an arse to be ticketed by council nazis for expired rego and WOF. They have NO interest in justice or fairness as the ONLY reason they do this ticketing for the police is to collect the revenue by acting as a agency of some kind for them. Much like NZPOST takes payment for your rego..but will have NO interest in a debate about how much, how far, how fair...they just collect.
This in turn scares away some parkers from inner city - where they might otherwise spend their last $20 on a long black and a condom in a local shop instead of staying at home until they have another $500 for a minimum rego and a WOF... they need a new wheel bearing or selt belt retractor or whatever to get a WOF. Good to get unsafe vehicles off the road..but in majority of cases the result is just taking $$$ from people who didn't have $$ in the 1st damned place.

Well a letter to that effect works here.

I may not have been legally parked as I was sitting on the crosses of the bay due to some shitty M/C parking and I wasn't about to fuck with other peoples rides or be late for the job interview... but that's a handy one to know.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Tis the law I was told.
Its the same with wheel clampers.
The requirement is to "Display current Registration label" ... end of story.

Are you sure of this one? Breaching privacy regulations by "looking".... yeah ok. Parking nazis here must be breaking all sorts of rules when they cruise the free parking areas along the beach dishing out tickets for expired wofs and regos.

It is illegal to have your old vehicles licences in the pocket thing as so many tend to do
& it is illegal to put your new licence in before the month it is due to start i.e. it is illegal tp put a vehicle licence due to start on the 2/2/12 in your pocket on the 29/1/12

Go figure ay, you now know 2 more legalities you probably didn't know before
So its illegal to go on holiday and put new rego in before you leave and illegal to leave old rego in before you leave .Damned if you do damned if you dont.moral of story dont go on holiday near end of month if your rego is due to expire unless you hire a vehicle sitter to change sticker on first day of they month at 00.01am

A guy I know told me the other day that he has been let off multiple "No rego" tickets from parking wardens because the legislation, as it stands, only applies to vehicles in motion. He is gutted that they are about to rectify this.

I also had a metal rego holder vibrate off. It had nylex nuts - I probably should have used some loctite. The cops rang me and I collected it from the station but I too now use the double sided sticky tape they give and affix it to the bike directly

Na it's already 1 of the 6 stationary offences under "Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999 (as at October 20 2011)"

Ah right. I must have misunderstood and my "about to rectify" should be "has recently been rectified"
