Science Is But An Organized System Of Ignorance"Pornography: The thing with billions of views that nobody watches" - WhiteManBehindADesk
Ah...they might. Local authorities certainly do. At least in some areas.
There are 2 main 'offences' to do with rego...
1. Failure to display (this is the one that parking nazis will apply, and you can't get out of it - either it was there to be seen or or wasn't)
2. Operates a vehicle without a current rego (this one is applied by the rozzers in a roadside chat and may be waived if you get it up to date within x days)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
Our car didnt have a rego displayed at all and got the same ticket. We just photocopied the tag and reciept when it was purchased and sent it in and all was forgiven. You'll be ok![]()
Oh are we being just a tad dramatic? For years we've always put the latest RUC tag in the window holder, regardless of whether the hub has reached the start of the new tag. Technically in breach of the law, but you can't buy gap licences nowadays, so the god squad aren't worried about it.
Same goes for the rego tag, as long as you're current, no probs. The new one arrives and it goes in the window holder, two weeks before its due, so what? Continuously licenced, end of story.
Write your letter and you'll be fine.
Would it be the same people who can't be arsed to check their rego, can't be arsed to check their WOF, can't be arsed to check their RUCs will complete their journey, be the same people who can't be arsed to stop at stop signs, can't be arsed to look for motorcyclists ?
SMIDGAF's ( sorry mate I don't give a fuck).
Or the lazy arsed parking nazi couldn't be bothered finding it, so ticketed you anyway (when it was on display and current). I refused to even write a letter, as I didn't believe I should waste my time on their incompetence, but sent them a photo of the back of the bike (with the label visible).
Remember (for the other posts) Failure to display is regardless of whether it's up to date or not.

The Current Motor Vehicle License to use the vehicle on the road, is what you must display in a visible place on a bike
Or on the inside left hand lower corner of the windshield in a vehicle....
It is an offense to operate any vehicle without a current motor vehicle license,
Any vehicle that Has a Vehicle Registration Plate, fixed to it, must display a current WOF AND a current motor vehicle license, to be used on the road legally.
That includes being parked on the side of the road outside you house, place of work, or a repair shop.

Interesting that the cops don't give a flying about whether you display or not. I have been pulled over several times on my current bike where the rego and wof is under the seat, and never even come up in conversation. They don't care. Ironically the people that do care are not doing so from a safety perspective, they are just money grubbing cunce. With a capitol C.

you must be very nice to the police when stoped because they will ticket you for having the rego & warrent under the seat even if it current or not. the ticket is for failing to display, and you can even get this for having the rego & warrent in a hard to see place ie stuck to the back of the number plate and then covered in chain lube or even down on the swing arm if obscured by footrest hangers.
Actually, I don't believe you're correct. The term is something like "must be displayed as near to the license plate as is practicable".
There is no mention of how clean it should be and fixed to the back of the plate is perfectly reasonable. If they want to ticket you, then they should make the effort to check they are correct. This shouldn't be a country of guilty until proven innocent.
