i am one of the owners, but currently away on a quite a long holiday,
hit it with some sandpaper. it won't touch the nikasil - it's way too hard.
it should come up quite nice with some time spent on it. i've seen this done successfully a few times.
everyone is way too paranoid about nikasil coatings!
i wouldnt do this to my race bike but if it was old and for the mrs i wouldnt think twice!
I did something similar to my kx100 and took it to engine specialties in Wairau, they diamond honed it for $35 and sent me on my merry way, I put a new piston and rings in and it ran a-ok for the rest of the time I had it.

there is a guy in ponsonby that can do it as well he is next to Forket automotive only cost me $20 cash when i had one done friday special.

I ended up getting the cylinder honed at Mr Motorcycles, it came back like new and ive just finished installing the piston etc. It fired up and ran great.
Thanks for your help!
just as a note, we use a very light hone to clean up these cylinders as not to damage the coating, glad we could help
