What's on at the end of Feb? Rosie & I will be rolling onto the Mainland 20 Feb & we hope to do some riding & camping around the top end for a week or so. Going through the Rainbow & having a look over Malings & Edwards is on the list, as are beers at the Free House but not much else planned as yet.

    Cheers
    Clint

Nothing special, end of feb but something could be arranged.

    ALSO...

AFM are patrolling the forestry areas and when I was in getting my permit, I happened to see a stack of trespass notices ready to be sent out...

Went exploring today and ended up the Baton. Always wondered where that was. Nice ride in with a side track excursion. Went to the end of the 4wd track and had to force myself to turn back at the walking track part, but there were signs of a vehicle been up there though.

Won't do any more riding till I put a new chain on cos its got to that elasticy stage. Lucky to finish the dusty without it breaking.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

    I've got permit tags 14 & 15.
Not many people registered so far this year.
Last year there were only about 50 registered.

Just realised I didn't get any maps...

If you've got 2 bikes, tell them and get both checked and they'll give you 2 tags no problem.

I've only been up the Baton as far as the ford. Must go up further and then back across the ford to Tap.

Meeting 10am Sunday at the Emporium to launch an attack on the Maungatapu and an ice-cream and coffee at Pelorus.

Well, they had a foggy send off.
Very little visibility from the summit, better on the Pelorus side.
Rained getting back up the Wangamoas and all the way back through Hira. Took the long, short cut (cool ) down Hurricane Hill.
It's more fun going down the short cut than the hill itself!

A good, fun ride and no-one got hurt or fell off.

    Sorta...

My video was pointing backward so didn't catch it. Not that there was anything to catch of course...

A character went past us on the Port Underwood road today. Black bike - looked kinda multicylindered with small black bags strapped on the front of his fairing. Was riding alright. He had long dreads at the back & I wondered if it could have been whatastoner...

3rd weekend in a row we've been away where it has been raining/ snowing/ windy as fark/ overcast.

came back to 25deg sunny Nelson.

nexy saturday I think I'm gonna saddle up Schmidt & head out towards Titirangi bay & Okaramua(?) bay (where the hippy commune is).
if anyone wants a leisurely gravel road cruise you're most welcome to accompany me
