Rest up and take it easy. Give me a yell if you need anything! You'll see the bike soon enough, fingers crossed for you!

Sounds good if the weather holds out.

I'd be keen for old tai tapu, gebbies, to speights ferrymead for an easy ride home. With the young fella probably round the bays rather than the the summit road, but either way will get you there.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

Someone warned me years ago and now l guess they were right

When you go through the tunnels in Kaikoura beware that there can be a small build up of loose stones/pebbles between the car tire tracks on the entry, it happened so quick but the car following me said thats what l hit before going down.

Be like you were rocking and rolling on marbles, cheers for the heads up. Tar gets pretty smooth through there in parts to, be horrendous on wet day.

Even when I'm running back empty in truck and trailer , I have to watch it if there is drizzle or light rain , on some of those sections , very easy to slide and have brake lock ups on trailer.

hope bike isn't to bad, and just minor repairs needed.

i'm happy to do either way, neels looks to be going round the bays with his son , both options have similar ride times, so not a biggie, long as i get a ride

The trailer units of trucks can drag any loose stuff from the road edge. So the stones aren't always only between the wheel tracks.

Heading south ... trucks with trailers pull hard to the left to get more clearance for their trailers to turn into the tunnels. NOT to allow bikes/cars to pass. Dont get caught out ... the drivers will be looking ahead. Not in the mirrors.
When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...
