    Baton Run

All coming along well, Mark is checking out a meeting place west of Hn this weekend for the Hn and Akld riders to meet before heading down to Te Kuiti. Looks like we will have details next week.

Plans are well progressing well, looks like we will meet the NP leg riders at Te Kuiti mid afternoon then into Hn the shortest way, on to Akld and the relay on Nth Shore.

I',m planning to ride Te Kuiti to Akld. looks like there will be a good number riding with the baton all the way.
I'm looking to get to the club night wed if work allows and give as much inf as I can, if I can't get there I text you.

Nah you'll be right mate, no way they could read your plate from rear view mirror.

Advantage of riding in a group is Popos doesn't know which bike he locked on to, mind you they could try and do all riders so big advantage in not being last

If there is no organised ride for tomorrow, Phil and I thought we might to the Kawhia-harbour rd/Marakopa-Waitomo circut.

Anyone wants to come along, Phill will leave Hamilton about 9.45. We'll leave my place at 10am. My mob is 027 6923454 if you want to join in.

An alternative, depending on the weather could be a Kopu-Whangamata-Waihi loop. (added, sunday morn.)

Went on the Boyds ride to Nikau Caves Cafe and back down the coast with great views of Mt Karioi to Te Akau Wharf which is across the Raglan harbour.

I only skimmed over it but was it due to finances or being a bit before it's time that it didn't come to anything. Interesting though. Bloody ugly! They'd suit tidal generation.

I know the Daytona's speedo is out by about 6kms. Brooke followed me in the car once and said I was riding like a nana. Followed her and I was doing 112 on the bike when she said she was 109. Obviously the car's out too. I get the same 6km/h differences from all the speed signs I go past. Never done the phone check thing. I really should get a waterproof phone mount for my bike as well. Although I'm yet to use GPS on it (maybe cause I don't have a mount )

You will find every speedo ever made probably reads fast. My XVS650 reads four k's faster than the GPS at a 100kph. And thats more accurate than my CBF250 and my Nissan Pulsar were.

A TV programme looked at car speedo reading errors last year. An indicated 8 kph faster than the true speed at 100kph isn't unusual.

Years ago, I was told it is due to the twist that occurs in the speedo cable between the front hub and the dial. I dont know whether that's true or not, or if electricaly wired speedos are more accurate.

Get a Speedo Healer, most speedos are out by 5-10% plus different sprockets/profile tyres muck up your speedo as well.

They are real easy to install and calibrate.

Electronic speedos are no more accurate. My gixxer was +9% until I speedohealed it...

USUALLY...quite apart from the fact that you need baby sized hands to get to the wiring on the gixxer, my speedohealer had a component that was a fraction off spec. My bike and two others in the world would not work with it in place. SpeedoTech had to make me up several units before they got one to work. I should add that they went to enormous efforts to get it right. But the speedo is now totally in agreement with the GPS. Until the tyres wear down that is. Then it's 1% out...
