    Does this make sense?

So I want to put my Rego on hold for 3 months, my current rego expires in July but they say that my rego has to run out before it can go on hold?

So I have to waste 3 months of rego that I won't be using by which time I will be on the bike again.
What doesn't make sense to me is that I am paying for the "privelege" to ride on the road, but as soon as I don't want to they still want to take my money and make me pay for the unused "privelege"

    What the fuck.
Rest in peace Tony - you will be missed.

Current rego must 'run out' first.
Only other way is to de-register and hand in your plates for a refund of the forward rego. Don't want to do that...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I just can't understand why the current rego would have to run out first though, if you are not using it you shouldn't have to pay for that?

Looked at doing the same thing myself.. It's paid for so what I do with it is my business it seems, no refunds, no returns, no credit. I've been going out in the wee smalls when all the good people are sleeping & seeing how Fast I can use my rego. To make matters worserer I thought riding a bike under 2fiddy cc's would be a significant saving in rego, er, guess again. We certainly pay for the privilege of our pleasure.

That would be because you have a valid registration sticker up to the end of the paid period.

(I know you wouldn't but some people, well they may just be tempted to keep driving EVEN AFTER the've got their refund.)

Yea that makes sense but if you could take in your sticker so as to cancel the rego wouldn't that be a suitable awnswer?

    Well...... yes but.

In these days of user pays you've just increased the work load, by the time you've paid someone to verify that you've returned the sticker (assuming you can, I use double sided tape on my bike), there probably isn't that much left there to refund.

    fick sakes man.
If you paid $3.00 for a pie, ate half it, and decided you didnt want the other half, would you go back to the fuckin dairy and demand they let you return it, on the proviso that they keep it hot for you, until you are ready to eat it again?

    Your understanding is incorrect.

OP; It's a PITA but now that you know you can alter your rego purchases to coincide with your "off season".
