    6F bullshit

So next month i can sit my full because i will have turned 25 allowing me to shorten my time to 6months.
I have held my 6R for 9 months now, Thought i would be pre-emptive to assure i get my full as soon as i can and get out and about on my harley which has been sitting in my driveway now for 6 months (yes i know im a good boy)
Tryed to book online...Whats this apprently i still have another 9months to wait...? So i ring up to query this fact. No No the woman say's, at 25 you can do your full after holding you 6R for 6 months....I reply with well i have held it for 9months and it wont let me. To this she replies, oh sorry your only 24 at present and will not be able to book untill you are 25..... I said i was intending to sit my licence after i'm 25 obviously....She replied no sorry even still you cannot book until you a 25.....Ok i reply, How are the bookings looking. She replies at current march still has spots but the way its going you will be looking at end of april or may.......

This is bullshit i can't pre-book its frikken pathetic

    ok so rant done.

Yep, had the same thing with both of my kids. Couldn't book to do a learner licence because they weren't 15 yet, even though we were trying to book a test for after their birthdays.

Book it outside a large urban centre. I tried booking in Auckland "Oh, there's a 6-week waiting list, sorry."

Called the AA in Pukekohe "Sure, how does in three days time suit?"

You have to give them full marks for the way they ensure you have to serve as much time on the restricted as they can squeeze out of you.

I understand your need to rant but, sorry, it is a bit like someone slipping on a banana peel. Not sure if it is amusing because of the number of times similar things have happened to me or relieve its not me.

Guess you are lucky she didn't say you couldn't sit until 6 months after you turned 25, which is another way to look at the rule. That it is a concession to those that have been on the restricted for 6 months whilst being 25. Now that would hurt.

+1 to this. I sat my full in Palmerson North even though I live in Wellington - avoided the huge waiting list.

Yeah there is a huge delay as everyone is trying to sit their test before the rules change.
I had to book a month after I was due to sit the test. Which is really annoying after paying for a defensive driving course to shorten the time.

I ended up doing the same after trying to book in Wellington city - I ended up just going through the list of test centers, moving away from Welly until I found one that had a free test within a week...

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I thought "Sweet, turning 25 will cut my Restricted waiting time down by half" Tried both on the net and by calling to book it for the day of my birthday. Found out I couldn't actually make the booking until my birthday.
Ended up being about 6 weeks after that I finally was able to sit the test.

If you wait until March, the full test and restricted test are swapping places effectively, which will save you a few dollars. Don't know if you book now for a test after Feb if you will pay the lower post-Feb rate, but I wouldn't count on it.

    Edit: citation...

    http://www.nzta.govt.nz/licence/phot...ts.html#class6
Class 6 (motorcycle) restricted licence tests
On 27 February 2012 changes will be introduced to graduated driver licensing system for motorcycles.
The restricted licence test will become longer and the full licence test will be shorter. In effect, both the test (and the test fees) will swap.
