Can't get over how many people expect the privileges of being licensed without actually having jumped through the hoops.

What made you pull him up in the first place?

I got away with a couple of months riding my 400 on my restricted. It's not exactly hard to operate a vehicle without getting pulled over. Don't know what my mates do to complain about the cops all the time.

The youth of today, want everything and expect everything handed to them on a silver platter, yet dont want to do the work to earn it.

Whats wrong with doing it by the book and waiting till you have your birthday, if it could be done like that, id be asking for my super now, as I will be turning 65 in the future.

Because if you cause a accident and kill somebody you make all learners look like arseholes.

Bicycle helmets have been mandatory in New Zealand since January, 1994.[1] The statute, delineated in Part 11 of the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004 (SR 2004/427), states that "A person must not ride, or be carried on, a bicycle on a road unless the person is wearing a safety helmet of an approved standard that is securely fastened." The law describes six different acceptable helmet standards.[2]

Violating the law can result in a $55 infringement fee and a maximum $1,000 penalty on summary conviction.[3]

and see not once does it say the helmet must be on your head, just says you must be wearing 1 & it must be securely fastened not once does it say it must be on the head as such it would be quite easy to comply with the law without the need to strap the piece of polystyrene to your head.
You'll also notice it's illegal to wear a superior motorbike helmet while riding a deadly peddle.
But this is another thread topic

As for licencing I have mixed feelings. If our system wasn't such a money grab I would agree whole hartedly that people without the right licence should be done.
But as our licenceing system is such an EPIC failure on every level, I'm not really sure if I care if people have a licence or not. People can either drive or they can't, licences in NZ don't represent that in anyway, they just showed the person had money & can see letters this big

HaHa me father in-laws been trying the same tac since i bought it lol.
It may go back up on trade soon tho, Done a few little things to it but not much. Bought the bike sight unseen,
was new to riding just had to buy it the listing was rather misleading so it went crazy cheap so had to get it. Unfortunatly wasn't aware how small they are.
Being 6'3" it looks like a wee 250 when im sitting on it, I'll put some k's on the clock and see how i feel before i sell it tho.

He failed to give way to a car. No near miss, just a technical breach. I was just going to have a friendly chat, but then the licence thing came up.

Stopped a bloke today who has a full car, but no bike licence. No reg or warrant either. 250 Katana, old school. Chain was a rusty wreck, but the rest of the bike was very tidy, considering it's vintage.

Have given him 3 weeks to get the licence, WoF and reg or he'll have $700 worth of invoices appearing in his mail box. I'm about to start hassling him by text too, so he'll not forget.

My judgement was that this individual will actually do it, that's why he got the offer.

Remember that the POpo is under NIL obligation to do that sort of thing, so please don't start quoting it to the next Popo who stops you. In fact, probably I could get in the doo for it, but I'd rather he got fully legal than spent his dosh on fines.
