The West Coast Highway is the best ride in the country im(ns)ho. After that though it's a toss up with the Lewis Pass, SH43, the Gentle Annie, the Coro Loop, and others, all damned fine motorcycle roads.

After that there are the shorter fun rides, the Takaka Hill, the Crown Range, the Paraparas, etc etc

Anyone who hasn't ridden all of them really isn't qualified to comment.

And I can't comment of the TeAnau-Milford Road because I haven't been there. Yet.
    I think I'm qualified ...

But the north island has it's secret roads ...

Fields track/Whangaehu valley road comes to mind. The Turakina valley road (the seal doesn't go all the way through as I remember) ... Hunterville- Mangahoe/ Mangationa road-Fordell- Whanganui isn't too bad.

You could spend a weekend in that area ...

As long as it's not raining ... and no busses on the road (near impossibility) the Milford is ok.

    I guess ...

After 16yrs riding in the north island and 15yrs(so far) riding in the south island, I think the south island is the better of the two for riding, on or off road.

Proof that any of us can forget particular techniques if we get complacent and/or stop practicing them.
Good on you, S. You (finally) twigged to a problem and did something about fixing it.
I have known its a problem for quite some time, just took having the right converstation with the right person to pinpoint the problem. Its a well known fact with those i ride with on a regular basis that I hated twisties

I think thats why I posted Justin, and given the bling it would seem a few others have tight twisty issues as well. Its all a learning curve aye

you also forgot to mention the traffic lights on V hill .. but at least I finally managed to scoot past the cars at that point. Welcome on the Iphone front .. they are some fun aye

Keeping cats off benches is as easy as removing their legs using nailclippers
