You've simply been asked to back up your claim. If you're unwilling (or unable) to do so, your dubious opinion can be cheerfully ignored.

    Fuck off there was.

I'm sure that if someone not wearing decent gear goes down the road their medical costs "may" be more, but not wearing decent gear doesn't mean they'll crash and burn and cost a gazillion dollars like some people seem to think

I also doubt there are any statistics for accidents of "gear wearers" vs "non gear wearers" and associated costs

    I stand corrected ...

And I HAVE seen jandle/shorts wearing riders prang, and walk away unscathed ... others in all the gear get bent and broken bits .... (them and the bike)

No justice in it at all ...

We all know it is common sense that if two people fall off the one with no clothes on is likely to suffer more injuries than someone dressed from head to toe in CE approved riding gear, generally speaking for the sake of argument. But the fact that someone is riding with no clothes on does not make them any more likely to crash in the first place. That is the issue, all these people are banging on about how ACC is going up due to the number of people crashing who aren't wearing all the approved gear yet where is the evidence? I have yet to see a schoolgirl on a scooter sliding down the road, but I have seen plenty of people in one piece leathers getting stretchered out of ditches.

Just to stir the pot along, and defeat my own argument.....
I can think of some cases where riding without approved gear would probably cost ACC less.
Riding without a helmet will cost ACC less in an accident as its more likely to be fatal, hence requiring less input from ACC.

You would think people would ride more carefully if they didn't have good gear ..... wouldn't you ... ???

Not to sure.I used to ride with jeans and didnt think alot about safety in my teens and 20s but i find myself feeling a bit exposed to danger without full leathers now.I think i ride a little better when confidence is up.Maybe getting older changes your view on whats a good idea. Each person will vary in how they ride. Some may ride carefully if they feel vunerable, some wont ride carefully no mater what, some dont think about it and some wont leave town unless they have all the gears on.Nobody can say a 40metre slide on the road without gear on is going to be better than a good set of kit.
The other thing is nice gear looks the part if your riding a good size bike(in my opinion).
Kids riding scooters in school uniform doesnt look safe. Girls riding to work in heels and skirts looks good(sometimes anyway)but also doesnt look that safe to me.
Maybe im stuck with the view that if your prepaired to take shortcuts with gear then what other shortcuts do you take.Im not sure how many of the population think about it the same way.

Human flesh and blood is just as slippery and hard to clean up as a sidecar oil slick?

Another one from central Otago who doesn't seem to get what is being said, must all that interbreeding and banjo playing turning your brains to mush

At no point have I said good gear doesn't protect you, although it didn't stop me from breaking my wrist, ankle and arm in separate incidents

I think you will find that helmets are a legal requirement.

Nobody would, but that's not the point I try to get across.
