and yet, I got my motorcycle license in 1982 (age 15), and have had only one accident (in 1984 age 17).

so.. I guess what ever I am doing, I am doing it right.

    oneofsix:

Yeah, I know, some people are doing it wrong, but that doesn't mean everyone is, or that every situation where cyclist's riding 2 abreast hold up a car for a few seconds is wrong. Sometimes it _is_ safer, just like it is safer to ride staggered on a group ride on motorbikes (well, they are probably opposite in the percentage of time it is safer, but the point remains).

Consider your self lucky then. And how many times have you eaten dirt while on the bicycle?

You know we don't bitch about where it is safe to do so . I try to give the peddles as much space as I can and have more than once received an appreciative wave where I have delayed my overtake until it was save for the cyclist and myself.
But as I said earlier when a group get together, and it might be for their Sunday ride, they seem to get stupidly self important and try to dictate their views and presumed rights at the expense of others.

We are ALL aware of the risks in our chosen activity ... aren't we ... ??? but often choose to ignore them for the reasons mentioned in (1.) More thought needs to be put into risk management. Few however ... actually understand what that is. And ... want their "adventure activities" ... with no risk.
Most people have more issues with being inconvenienced ... than "put at risk" ... regardless of their chosen means of transport ... and activity.

I've seen a few "edited" versions of motorcycle vid's that feature riders being "put at risk" ... only when the full circumstances are revealed, is the full situation made clear. Not always in the favour of the one posting the vid.

    Lets see.

...first off, the attitude of "They can wait 20sec's...THEN they can pass"....seems to sum you and the majority of cyclists up.

And yes...you ARE entitled to ride side by side...so are motorcyclists!...but we don't do it at 30-40kph whilst blocking the flow of traffic with the above mind set AND a superiority complex <(If you dont like it, take a frickin train!...bitch please!...If I don't like it...I'll make damn sure you know!)

My main question "for safetys sake"....why arn't cyclists forced to fit wing mirrors?? (I know...its common sense to see whats behind you...what am I thinkin)

They CAN wait 20 seconds.. its not long.

I prefer to keep my life and limbs, and my bike... in one piece. If that means pissing off the odd person, well.. tough shit.

In most places where we are doing 30-50 kmh, the speed limit is 50kmh, so at 40 kmh we're hardly holding anyone up.. everywhere else there is usually more than enough room for everyone.
