Erm, no. If you crash while wearing jandals the ACC claim will more than likely be a lot higher than if you were wearing big stompie Alpinestars. My point was and is that it is the crash that causes the initial claim, your level of clothing may well determine the extent of the claim, and whether you will walk again when it comes to jandals, but first and foremost it is falling off or being knocked off. If you don't do either of those, which most riders don't, then I cannot see a problem with wearing whatever you want.

Serves you right if you come off and get skinned, but if you don't come off what has it got to do with anyone else? Nothing, if you ask me.

Not quite. I just think that all the people who preach to others about what they wear are missing the point. If they are that concerned about how dangerous it is to be on two wheels maybe they should take the bus, because even with all the gear in the world on there are no guarantees. Yeah yeah, risk mitigation etc etc. The bus will still be safer.

Dang right - and just how far is one expected to go in the 'ATGATT' scheme of things?? When do you reach the limit at either end of the spectrum?

If people put as much effort into riding in a manner that made crashing a far less likely outcome, as they do into preaching ATGATT, we'd be in a far better position.

At one end of the spectrum it is when your moobs are flapping in the wind behind you.

Its likely that the people preaching are most often putting more effort into riding safely than the average rider.

Absolute fucking rubbish, they aren't costing you or anyone else shit unless they crash and no one has been able to back up any claims about that with any facts and figures that prove otherwise so if you can't you're talking just as much shit as everyone else who spouts that line

I'd suggest that those treating the road as a racetrack are costing you far more than any scooter riding office bimbo.

So what you're actually saying is you are unable to prove your claim that "These fuckwits are reason why I have to pay $600 ACC leveys PA" ?

Of course they are but every motorcycle riding dickhead wants someone else to blame

Even some of those that don't treat the road as a racetrack have cost shitloads as well

Of course it could just as likely be the exact opposite, with those who know they are not as protected as they could be taking a little more care? Who knows.

It's a bit like the view that all the safety devices that cars have built in to them these days has led to drivers using up that additional degree of protection by driving less safely than they would have done if they were in an old Cortina. I reckon that if they made it compulsory to ride around naked the number of bike crashes would fall significantly.

Haven't read the entire thread, but with more people getting scooters to save money or for easier commuting there will be more and more of these sorts of sights on our roads. They most probly aren't "motorcyclists" as we think of them rather the scooter is convenient and why would they go all ATTGATT when just popping down to the shop? I wouldn't, too much of a pain in the ass and what do you do with your gear when you get to the cafe, mall etc?
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
