    Reality check headed my way

    Bugger...Company i work for has announced there going to lay off 1/4 of the workforce (around 60) and change all the shifts about,been working 4 days on 4 off for many years and have got well used to the 4 days off,there thinking 8 hour shifts 5 days a week if indded i am lucky enough to retain my job.Bad news for a small town indeed.Fingers crossed eh.

    Never planned on staying to be honest,tossed in a rep job up in the Nth isle and was just travelling about and stopped in for a bit,the 4 12 hour days then 4 off was pretty cool so stayed and still here.

    There's a lot of it going around, I know people who are gripping onto their seats pretty hard these days, me included. Hope it all works out, it generally does one way or the other .

    Xactly mate,one door shuts blah blah,got some family working in a mine over on the West coast 7 days on 7 off which even if i keep my job here looks pretty good considering the money,do the 7 days then cmon home for 7.

    Ongoing process at the Mill I guess. I remember restructures happening there just after Mrs Oakie left to have Oakie jnr. ver 1. God, must be 29 years ago now. I knew (and played cricket with) quite a few people there. Actually I still know a Dad and his daughter who work there.

    About it eh,methinks they are going to be very surprised at how many take the voluntary redundancy if they go to the 8 hour shifts,many like myself wouldnt have bothered staying if it wasnt for the 4 on 4 off thing.
