I've just watched the video again, and I love its action. For me, I hate scratching my black rims, as this method means I will have more control to simply push it over and prevent the gouging. So I want one...

If you make them, what will your price be?

PS did you see the engineering work of my hospital repaired leg ( I get out tomorrow)... titanium plates, screws, steel pins, steel wire, carbon rods...since you like the mechanical side of things...you'd appreciate how its all hung together.

I posted some pic's on Night Falcons 690 thread here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1130317354

    Hopefully...
But there has been a change in my situration...
as of 6 weeks ago I'm unemployed...
Can't fined a job here in Blenheim.. Wins is talking vineyards....
    Like thats going to happen..
So anyways... More than lightly I'm off to ChCh..
Going down this week to see what I can fined...
If that dose happen... I will lock the house up.. only have
weekends to play with them when I come back up to Blen..

So in the short term... Don't hold yer breath...

With your skills, and the fact that chch is munted and in need of rebuild...I'm sure you can secure something. Even better if its something you can enjoy.

Good luck and thx for the quick reply...it'll be awhile before I'm back on the bike so no rush.

Tried over here? Can I have your lathe & milling machine while you're gone? I haven't got a clue how to use either but what could possibly go wrong?

I told you hairdressing was a bad career choice for a bloke.

What's this, the 3rd salon that's let you go now?

    Got the test one done...
Have to change the claw shape it jumps off the
bead when the pressure applyed at the final section..
It will do from 17" to 21" wheels (18" wheel in the pic) & fit bearings/axle size
    15mm/16mm/17mm..19mm with a sleeve..
As yer can see theres alot of work in them..

looks great...and I have no doubt that there is a lot of work in making it. So...how did it feel after all that, do you think they are worth the effort?

Its easy... Theres no chance of pinching the tube or marking the rim..
but i can do it just as fast with levers.. just a diffent way of doing
the same job.. All the issue's I had with it were from the claw not
griping..once I get a better shape claw it will be even better...
    thinking a vee shape..

Great work Pete, you clever bugger you. I bet once you get the claw shape right and with practice it would be faster than levers.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

I mentioned in an earlier post that my major problem is breaking the bead to get the tyre off. My son and I* spent a couple of hours today making this. Breaks the bead of a hard sidewall 17' knobbly easy as. Works well with a 21" front as well.

(*the bird shit welds are mine, the nice stuff is Pauls)

    Excellent stuff guys. Well done.

Pete if you get a chance, next time you make something like that take a few pics, as a lot of people (like me) find the whole process really interesting. How did you bend the round & rack thing?

I made a quick nasty press thingy useing a 10 ton bottle jack..If I do make more
I will make a former for it to get a more constant bend..

What shape claw have you got on there?

I'm thinking a longer top than bottom and maybe 10* opening? That'll get the V'ishness and a flat to do the pushing...

    I want, nay, need one...
