Hi All
Tyre pressure - 40psi back, 42psi front - COLD. I assume this is the manufacturers MAX??
I was told if I have 32psi in both tyres, I should be just fine.
Is this correct?
Thanks for any help and/or advice. Much appreciated.![]()

Where did any of those numbers come from?
as a general rule.... lower pressure = more grip = less life of the tyre
higher pressure = less grip = longer life of tyre
less weight requires less pressure
more weight requires more pressure
lower pressure on front will make front vague to the point where it just wont turn because the profile wont be a good shape.
you can get right down to the 20s on certain tyres but ask yourself... what are you trying to achieve?
pilot roads 2 on the zx9 seemed to have a good mix at 37/38
take it to the track and I was down to 32/30
road tyres at road speeds there is nothing wrong with 40/40. I ride a little more spirited so I run 36/34 on the road on raceattacks atm.
clear as mud?

Recommened pressure's are for ideal conditions...but its important to remember the pressure for your bike...and having the right pressure ensures proper tyre wear and handling...
cheak with your manual if you have one and look on the tyre wall as the psi for that tyre will be printed there......
I run 38psi front and 42psi rear over the summer and 36psi front and 40psi rear over the winter, as it allows the tyre to heat up quicker during the cooler months....
Rule of thumb - front slightly less than rear.
If it was me, I'd be running 30 in the front and 32 in the rear. On both your bikes.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
