I wonder why trials riders adn quad riders get a cheaper national liceince than Mx riders, road racers, cross country racers, speedway and every other sort of racers?

if you ride trials and cross country/s, do you have to buy the more expensive cross country one, or will the trials one work like it used to?

The revenue is budgeted to be negative compared to last year and this assumes we pick up a good chunk of new club licence holders...its not about $$. At last years AGM the clubs spoke loudly that they wanted to see MNZ put initiatives in place to get bums on seats at local club events and allow unlicensed classes of racing and generally make it more affordable for the majority of Licence holders.

If it does not work it can be changed....if we do not try we do not know. From nearly 5000 licence holders we got to hear from around 30 people. Feedback was split between for and against.

30 out of 5000, that is pathetic.

My question though is how many out of 5000 KNEW about this initiative?
    My guess is 40!

MNZ have my email address as well as the other 5000 im sure,

Why o why do they not send out a email to us to let us know of these upcoming sorts of changes?

Im sure they would get a LOT more feedback if they were a bit more proactive instead.

We don't all sit on the MNZ website waiting for updates and changes. Want feedback ask for it!

    Thinking further,
A fair few MNZ members(racers) are on here as well as yourself(MNZ board).

How about, on here, announcing offically that you want some feedback on issues and providing a link or similar?

You are right its pathetic but its about the same apathy we see when it comes time to vote for the people that run MNZ.....

It was sent to all MNZ clubs months ago, it was also on the MNZ website, NZSBK, Facebook and other media outlets. Riders should be involved with their clubs, this is the best way to be involved in your sport and recieve the official communications that are sent to them.
Your club remains the best point of contact, involvement and information. The circulars sent should be read out as correspondence at your club meetings if you attend them.

the fact is that most MNZ members do not attend their club committee meetings,

The MNZ website is a mess, and has been for years, and the group that was set up to look at it reccomdations were ignored (i was on it) and it continued in its current form, it is trying to be to much to to many people, with press realeases, to many results so any information that the members need to see get lost on it,

not sure why it would be so hard to get it emailed out,

have a look at www.speedway.co.nz, it is what i think the website should be, just a basic website with news and competitor information,

Well the system obviously works well then dosen't it?

I have now tried to join MNZ on facebook, but couldn't find said info, will look later.

Couldn't find any info on NZSBK website either.

These were cursory looks and it may be too long ago to find easy now.

The only reason I am a member of a club is to get a race licence, I have no intrest in attending meetings as I live in the waikato and belong to AMCC, you do the math.

You didn't answer my question however,
MNZ have our email address's why is it that they wont send us an email?

One reason is that for MNZ to send out 5000 emails is a nightmare, the ISP and other email watchdogs will instantly tag you (MNZ) as a spammer and all future emails will be dumped to spam or rejected from mail servers, we have looked into this and we are still looking at a way it can be done. It is currently illegal to send unsolicited emails to people, another thing we are looking at, we need to get everyone to agree to receiving mails.
If you know of a way we are keen to listen...
I agree that not everyone can attend club meetings but maybe your club could add a small portion to their newsletter re the current MNZ circulars or issues asking for feedback so you know to go and check the website?

    Hi Scott.
A brand new website was announced at the AGM and this is due to go live soon, just a few bugs and design issues to resolve. We all agree its a mess but it was a big project. I am not sure when that group was set up but I am sure if that info was current then it would have been used for sure.
As always never perfect and usually late but its coming....

Kevin, there are many outside providers that can send this size email database for a very small annual cost (under $1000), its not that hard as manyclubs/organisations already send to similar size databases,

and for hte website, its good to hear a new one is coming, i know sometimes the wheels take time to turn,

any reason why the annual reports are no longer posted on their btw,

I'm not surprised NZSBK is a privately developed and run NEWS website, although when you were searching on it did you actually take a moment to send them a query through the CONTACT details? Thought not, another one that needs spoonfeeding...

    Hi Scott.
Can you send me a contact or details on such a provider?
I am not that clever on these matters, in fact some would suggest I am just not that clever full stop!

With the online licencing, how about sending a confirmation email and having a confirmation link like when you forget a password for a website, you could ask user to check spam box and also ask user to add MNZ (the sender) to the safe list (or whatever its called).

That way all online applicants then have to check their emails to get the licence and in doing so will make sure MNZ emails don't go to spam.
    Just a thought?

Did you not just send out 5000 emails telling people about the 2012-2013 licence? Or was I the only person that got one?

    Spoonfed?? get real

You made my point, They are not the place we should be finding out about these types of things are they?

email from MNZ to us licence holders still seems the only way to get the message to the people in my opinion.
