    Random thought for the day

...whilst in the chamber of ideas (taking a dump), I don't know why, hence random, I have thought of a way to bring down the road toll. We have the technology to stop a car starting based on alcohol consumption and no doubt that will be followed by drug consumption. Unfortunately this will give rise to a black market where these devices will be bypassed and we'll end up with "them" people on the road. Yes some get caught, but how many, 1:10?, 1:1000?... anyhoo, why not have a light on top of the car/helmet that will be universally known as the "Under the Influence light".

This will alert drivers around them that the person in the vehicle could be in any shape and to drive slightly more careful around them, or at least expect the unexpected.
If they cause an accident etc... there would be no need for a blood test etc... as a record of their "condition" will have been maintained by the vehicle, so the cops could just arrest them (no need for the cops to suffer thems with a wish to get away with it to being dicks) and the courts could slap them with evidence and appropriate punishment (all automated? drive yourself to jail? Praps the car could lock the doors and drive you there itself? )
Lawyers wouldn't be needed to defend the person, so there would be no loopholes for thems with clever lawyers to enable them to dodge their responsibility.
I'd be fuckin loaded ($$$, not just loaded) beyond my wildest dreams and free to pursue my "dream".

We have the technology. Why not use it.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Kill all the people. That would dramatically decrease the road toll.

There's going to be a segment about a guy on Te Noos tonight that is going up on his 29th DIC charge.
If he doesn't go to jail,I'll help finance your plan so long as it has a kill function.

Only 29... Wonder how many times he's actually been pissed and on the road. Can we have a "lottery"? 5 Vehicles with drivers under the influence will be blown to pieces every evening. Good enough?

A punishment could be that their car is taken from them and in replacement they receive a Ford Fiesta 1.1 with a 500kg weight in the boot.

Erm, is there, er, a chance that they could, like, bypass the UTIL as well?

If your slightly flawed system went ahead, would the charge be being under the influence under the influence light?

hmmmmmm... that could be tomorrow's thought

I agree, it is a wee smidge flawed... and no, the charge will be crashing into something/someone etc... and jail time (for being under the influence under the influence light, if ya like). Yes driving whilst under the influence won't be a crime anymore, but if they're gonna be under the influence whilst, then driving every road user and pedestrian would be better off knowing that imminent danger is imminent? Perhaps a lit hat with a D on it? maybe even a propeller whirling around powering some form of voice box for the car, "drunk on board, get outta the fackin way". It's a preventative measure without the expensive of police time, court time and associated jail costs etc... who knows, maybe we'll let people throw balloons filled with paint stripper at the vehicles... then people can vent their anger and feel better

Or just impound their car for 28 days on being found over the limit ... and CRUSH their car after the 3rd conviction of drunk driving.

Drunk drivers are more likely to kill other road users, than the boy racers ... currently the target of Goverment victimization ....

Drunk driving makes that sound reasonable, but our laws target drink driving. Drunk drivers are 3 times the adult drink driving limits. The group that causes the problems are the drunk drivers. Crush the drunk drivers otherwise they will just beg, borrow or steel another car, as has been done before by ones that were caught several times at more than 3 times the adult limit.

The breath tester should be in taxis. If you blow over the limit you get a free ride home.

I guess I dont do my best thinking while dropping the Cosby Kids off at the pool.

I remember reading somewhere years ago that it was estimated that drunk drivers drove something like 500 times or more under the influence before getting caught although I guess in small towns you soon get known.
