We had a 1980 Marina HL with the 1700 O-series alloy head motor. It was a very nice car to ride in and it had enough torque to keep up with a 2lt Cortina up the Albany hill! Power disc brakes worked very well, ask the wee boy who ran out in front of me one day... It looked good with the driving lights in the grill, the interior and boot were roomy, and the seats were comfy. I still miss it!

Oh, and it was red with those faux "alloy" wheel trims.

Hmm, POSSIBLY but when you look at the time frame vs WOF chack dates I doubt it has gone 13 years AND 113,648km without a WOF check.

And exactly 140,000km? how often is a car in for a WOF with a nice round figure like that?

Oh, and Dangerous, I dunno how to link to an expired Tardme listing.

And I had it shipped to Riviera of the South, so sadly won't be dropping into Dangerous Dungeons for a visit this time.....

Every time, I tell you, Every time

Q: Are old british vehicles reliable ?

A: Yes : They break every time you use them

Yesterday, Using the winch to haul a Landcruiser back onto the Cheeseman Skifield road I get a couple of big sparks and a great big spit from the winch control box and the winch stops working...

    Diagnoisis and repair this weekend.

I suspect I had the very same model (in blue). I agree with the comments over the engine and braking. I was also able to keep up with a 2.0l Cortina, however the dampers were a little dissapointing and hence the cornering ability didn't match the power.

    Good car though

Any of you guys know of any reason as to why I shouldn't upset the wife by buying this:

That's the grill. I didn't have the vinyl roof and the wheel trims were a bit more realistic than the ones in your pic, but that's the car.

Dampers should have had an extra upper arm, but adding coil-overs made all the difference, and some did that for racing. I didn't bother as mine were still in good nick and I wasn't in a hurry usually as had three young children at the time.
