Thanks for the offer Woodman but I think I'll have a crack myself with a saw/grinder/file, whats the worst that could happen

Hey Padmei, here is a photo of the tierod nut I was talking about.
Shank OD 13.9mm Hexhead size 19mm internal thread 10mm
You may need to shorten up the round shank to the depth of the block.
You may want to cut half the hexhead off down to 5mm as its not all required in this case
You will have to make sure the stripped thread diameter goes right through the block
You will be able to use the original Barrel / head stud
You will have to use a dremel / grinder to cut a grove in the last 5mm of the shank to accommadate the oil gallery
You will have to use a dremel / grinder to cut a 1/4 moon in the side of the hex head so that the barrel will still fit in and
You will have to Loctite Plastic Metal it into position so that the oil grove and the cut away for the barrel stay in the correct position and stop any leakage of oil pressure back into the sump around the unmachined surface on the inside of the block.
Just my thoughts on a KIWI # 8 wire solution so that you dont have to replace the block.
I will post the part # tomorrow and where you can buy one.

    Cheers GSers.

You're awesome Gsers. Thanks for that. I had a brainwave this morning & realised I could weld a stud to a flat backing plate & have that siting inside the block but your idea sounds lees bodgy than mine cheers.
I've gotta order some new rings & gaskets & I'll be away

I made a pile of 5mm spacers to fine tune with.

With the 0.48kg springs and Intiminators, I ended up with 5mm preload as feeling the best.

On the TT, I pulled the spacer entirely when putting the Intiminators in.

The hydro tube I've got is slightly too large OD and needs skimming down.
The little lathe is sweet for making the face nice and true so it doesn't cock the spring sideways at all

This is about 4 feet above normal and at peak the levels were about 3 feet above this.

You my friend are a champion.

Now I got my new old camera today & went around to Nordie's to nerd out with him. We got a bit carried away with show & tell & next thing you know Nordie has donned his commando adv biking outfit. Note the vest concealing many weapons, very scary machete looking thing & neck brace in case any branches land on his noggin. Luckily I had the camera ready for such an occasion.

The scratches don't really show up in that shot.

Superb subject matter by the way.

yes, sounds like a good idea, pretty sure there is an adv bike somewhere in the shed patiently waiting to be ridden.
