Tournament and Wilson carparks are run by pricks.
    I'm not surprised.

They aren't tickets although they are designed and presented to look like one. Other threads on this forum discuss breach notices, and opinion seems to be unless you have taken a ticket from a machine or similar there is no offer and acceptance - so no contract is formed, and the breach notice is not enforceable.

Clamping and towing may be possible, but this did not happen to you.

Have you opted out of having your name and address details sold by the NZTA ?

If you have not, you should.

Tournament Parking have a "241 exemption" which allows them access to the details of registered persons who have not opted out. A 241 exemption specifically says they may not have access to details of those who have opted out, although the NZTA is still releasing details regardless.

They are coming under increasing pressure over this practice, there is little doubt they are breaking the law.

First I'd heard of this opting out business. Looks like you can do it online https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transa...ess/entry.aspx

Sadly as not a lot of people "opted out" the NZTA are not taking it very seriously, and are still releasing details, claiming they are doing it "for the public good" under the official information act.

But they are on the very cusp of the law, and we are working to get it sorted, so opting out, especially if backed up by an email to nzta@govt.nz saying you don't expect you details to be released except for law enforcement will help.

They need to update that site showing where all free scooter/motorcycle parking is. That area outside of the library isn't there anymore. I remember seeing everyone parking there when I used to walk up to uni. I tried to go park there last week before seeing a movie and the road's all ripped up and barriers are everywhere.

But anywho, Chancery St carpark, entrance off Bacon Lane I think? is a good carpark also. All depends on where abouts you work in the CBD though. If it's too far, I guess it's just a carpark to consider if you need to go anywhere near that part of town. Can park anywhere you want for free so long as you only park in places cars can't. ie. little triangles between spaces, up against guard rails where there are no markings, etc. Just ride past the barriers and wave to the parking staff.

Those that "Opt-out" ... in the attempt to escape a parking ticket, may find alternitive means of getting your "fine money".
A wheel clamp is one method they may employ. If you find your bike/car has been clamped ... you may have wished you "got the bill in the mail".

Or ... just be careful where you park.

We Do have 10 minute parking spaces (and a couple of 5's) ... but nobody wears a watch ...

The cop has been known to write a parking ticket ... but he's not always in town.

We do have two disabled parking spaces too ... so all bases of any big city we have right here ...
