    Rim tape legality?

    Hi all.

Looking to tidy up the bike, and wanting flourescent rim tape to give the bike a little more presence on the road at night.
For those who arent aware, flourescent rim tape doesnt simply reflect light, it absorbs it, and emits a dull glow, kinda like watch dials.
What I want to know is, are there any issues with using different laws, such as red rim tape, if it will glow dully at night?

Dont wanna spend money "rimming" the bike (tehe) only to have a cop make me strip them off a week later.

Anyone had any dealings with this?

Great idea. Check with the LTSA on legality, then let us know.

you taking about reflective tapes or fluro ones?

to my knowledge none of these emit a glow of light or are you thinking of the luminous stuff they use for step areas? that emits a glow when charged with light...

I use to put reflective on cars as a job and was suggested not to put white facing rear or red facing forward... sides eg wheel rim sides you can do what you want

Ozzie made, colour options available, I had the aquas installed on me VTR250 back in Oz this yr and seriously work well for safety at night.
The maker of them has done all the research and are totally legal on Australian roads, so may be fine here also (your rules seem more laxed anyways...)
I considering another set for me striple.

Reflective material isn't really covered in WOF specifications, just the requirement for legal rear reflectors. I would say as a general rule don't put white rearward facing and red forward facing and you should be OK.
