Took a knife to a gun fight!

Left dorkland just before mid-day Friday and took a fairly scenic route to get to Rangatiki pub about 4pm. Jatz was there on his new (to him) 800GS and it was in stunning condition. Chris was the first there but not by much. Great pub, funny as a funny thing were Mr and Mrs publican. Dranks well too much and had a huge pork and veg roast dinner for $20. I'd not organised accomodation and the publican oferred a matress on the floor of the bar for $20 - deal!

Breakfast was a mountain meal and with pork and pickel roast sandwitches we set off into the frosty morning.

The first part of the track was OK as long as I kept the speed reasonable. The washouts across the road certainly bottomed out the suspenders and my new bash plate started made several loud gong noises.

The track through to Minginui was OK with my tyres as it was quite dry. Jatz headed home from there.

Pushed through to Waikaremoana and the mud on the road around the top side of the lake was a pain.

I shot down to Wairoa and grabbed some gas. Sent a txt home and checked the weather forecast for Sunday. Hmmm rain. I then back tracked a little and then too the sealed road to Tinirota, that was good fun.

From the pub it was great riding until Rakauroa road where they'd been dumping gravel in some places about 100mm deep. Just about got down for a close look a couple of times.

For the last bit back to Matawai I was tossing up if I was going to do the Sunday ride in the rain and decided to wimp out and head home. I was happily tucked in bed by 11pm.

Got some speeding tax on the way home too, 118 along the straights north of Matata. Nice enough cop, but he could have saved some oxygen on the lecture. Apparently I'd be slidhtly less dead if someone pulled out in front of me if I was doing 100 - go figure.

Well, back to the knife fight bit. The strom handled almost all of the trip OK, except for the Anakee tyres, which where almost dangerous in some conditions, as the groves clogged with mud and the tyre became a slick!.

And here is the route for day 1.

What an awesome weekend. A big thankyou to Clint and Rosie, once again a well organised and run ride.
Special mention to my partner in crime without who's help Bruce the Farmer would have caught both of us in his mudhole
My arse hurts from that bike seat but I bet your shoulder is worse Gerrard, Heal fast mate, look forward to seeing you on another ride soon.

    Spot tracker help

Hi folks, activated my Spot Tracker this afternoon and did some ok tests. I am getting the emails through and one of the SMS messages. It's a Telecom number that starts 021. The other 3 numbers are 027 and none of those came through.
    Any ideas ?

Are you saying that one of your specified numbers is getting the notifications and not the others? Check that they are all entered in the same format.

I had a similar situation with ours - can’t remember offhand what the solution was but I’ll go back and have a look at my settings. I think it had something to do with how the country code was specified.
