Will be trying to make this but it sounds like I may be a mobile bike mechanic on the Round Taupo bicycle ride the following weekend. Need to work work out how many bicycle tyres I can fit in my top box....

This will cause me issues with seeing me kids. Not sure how this will turn out yet.

250's made it last time....even 225's, all three of them.
We'll make sure this November ride will be as successful at the last.
You will have to keep in mind (and start saving) that it will cost about $150-160 per head for two nights accom/two cooked breakfasts and evening meals.
That adds up to $9 per week from now.
16 weeks to go...new thread to be posted early October.

Thumbs up Already thinking about it

We are heading up to the San Marino on Friday for a few days.
A dry run for the November Ride to firm up the dates/price per head (and body) and look at a couple of *variations/options on the first trip to the Cape.
Wont quite make it to the lighthouse this weekend, but will go part way up Cape Road to check out a couple of things.

    * Part ride on ninety mile beach for those who want to/Pukenui for the Lunch stop/Te kao for Northlands biggest Ice cream.

The San Marino sleeps about 20, maybe squeeze in a few more so up to 24 ...that's the cut off point (no worries for tenters though) of which about a 1/3 are normally learner riders.
Three groups of eight or so bikes. Faster/more experienced riders in groups 1-2.
Looking at Nov' 15-16-17 at this early stage.

May get an end of Winter overnighter ride in, late August.

It's done pretty much as the Naki ride, the ride back home is different than the ride up there.

With 24 bikes/people in tow, it takes a while to get anywhere, lunch is just over an hour stop at Paihia. The whole three days is relaxed with a lot of laughs.
Our regular stops on the way up are Kaiwaka/Whangarei Gull and Paihia...last year, a group split off with a local and did the Matuari bay loop arrive just ten minutes behind the rest of us at Coopers beach.

Count me in! And Boots of course. She should be done and dusted by then.
