I have a modest collection of bikes, the Jap ones are a TT500H and a XT500H.
I'm looking for an SR500 to complete the set (I'm also looking for a Z1A and an RD400D, but that's another story).

bit hard to find in any condition.... let alone a nice tidy one. Having said that being a gnome I would have to shorten the shock and forks to the point where I may as well buy an R80 or R65

Here's one I miss the most and was the most fun to ride. And here's one on it's way to me that I'm pretty excited about finding.

Are you buying stuff out of the US? Can you walk us (OK me) thru the process? I looked at it a while ago and just thought "Too freakin' hard". But trawling ebay there are utter gems. (and a lot of crap)

Yeah. That's an ex Kent Howerton factory SR500 coming from the US of A. It's actually a piece of piss. If you're talking about a road bike, they pretty much all have titles. Without a title, the engine has to be pulled from the frame, which is a pain obviously. But even dirt bikes from certain states have titles. It's as easy as winning the auction, then contacting a good freighter to get 'em to you. I can hook you up with some good people for that. Much easier (read cheaper) if they're in California, as they need to leave from LA.

You pay 15% gst on the combined value of the bike plus the freight when it gets here. Frt is normally around 800.00 - 1500.00 NZ $'s a bike.

I don't do dirt, but some of that 80's works crosser stuff (and for some weird reason Kwaka) causes more than a lift in heart rate! Wooohoo, that's cool.
