When I'm on the other side of the lens, I usually do something stupid and fall off.
No probs. This sort of photography's a bit like fishing. You never know what you're going to get. After a ride, I can't wait to get home and have a look at what I've captured.
I'm still a bit annoyed I didn't complete the whole ride. Bloody fork seals.![]()
Yup, a few swear words said when greeting the grader round a blind corner.Originally Posted by bart

Yeah, I was one of the first away from the lunch / lake. I came around the cormer and he was on my side of the road. I then tried to signal to the driver that there were a lot more bikes heading this way. He just looked at me like "huh?"
Spose thats why he drives a grader and we ride bikes.

Ive gone around blind corners on shingle and country tar seal roads and have met the following on the wrong side, trucks, school buses, farmers in utes or bikes stopped and chatting, sheep, cows, pigs, graders, deer, goats, farmers wives in SUVs (Sorry ladies but they are the worst) . Tourists on heavily loaded push bikes, Motorbike riders and to top it off, once I came across 2 mums pushing babies in mountain buggies ( I kid you not) and when you are in 45 tons of truck and trailer life can get interesting real quick.
So please people, never assume on a country road, anything can be around a corner including a sheep or goat or even a turkey can jump down off a bank behind the bike in front of you. Thats why I tend to be a slower rider on shingle simply because I have seen all of the above happen.
Reality is, irrespective of the law, on a country road, Size Rules.
Ride safe
COP, "Ive been waiting to catch you all day"
BIKER "Sorry officer, I got here as fast as I could"
I once came round a corner on a gravel road and met a combined harvester. It was so big it took up both the right and wrong side of the road. I ALWAYS slow way down on corners when I cant see whats round them. Most other riders nearly always over take me at that point which I'm more than happy for them to doAnd for the record there were no grader warning signs!!
....wherezz that track go
I like to ride towards the back. That way no one can see my shit lines. And I don't hold anyone up. I like to have things happen ahead of me, & not to be taken out by something happening behind me.
And most importantly, there will be several crash test dummies ahead of me.![]()
My rough video, pretty long and boring. The camera was on a funny angle (due to new mount) and so much frost/dust/moisture inside the camera, so most of the vid is pretty rough looking.
Sorry Al, the entire section at the end of the motu where I was following you had so much moisture inside the camera its total crap. Next time I will get ya.
Believe it or not, I'm doing a grad Dip OSH by correspondence... and I live in Massey............................................ ........

Sorry, I've been a bit slack in the editing department but here's a link to a bit of footage I took after pulling out of Waikeremoana. I did it all at HD (no, not that HD) but somehow some quality got lost in the transfer to youtube. I've got a few more to come so I'll try and up the quality on those ones somehow.
