How do you find the camera chest mount? I am going to try sticking one of the mounting pads onto the front of my rost protector....

That would probably work quite well.
I love the chest mount when Trailriding. You will have to take a little time to work out the angle that works for you as if you sit it may be too high or if you stand over the bars in an attack position it may tip too low. The up side is you can feel more immersed in the terrain and it seems to be a steadier picture than helmet mounts on bumpy terrain.
If you mount it too low on the chest you do risk getting too much handlebar and not enough ground in the picture.

Tried it and it didn't work as only smooth service was in center of the chest and camera stuck up too high and was hitting the bottom of my helmet chin which I only discovered when about to ride off! Have ordered the proper chest mount!

Minus 3 degrees at the start, plus 800 meter elevation, more ice and frozen grass hills than I care to ever see again!
I should have taken my own advise and used the Quad. I don't know anyone who didn't fall off multiple times, some of the downhills where solid sheets of ice that were impossible to stand on, let alone ride down....

This would be a fantastic ride in Sumner as the track is wide and fast, plus the views stunning, just NOT in the Ice on a 2 stroke MX bike...

5th August- Going to do a lap of the Waimak, thinking meet at Caltex on the corner of Yaldhurst and Russley Rd. at 1pm, leave by 1:30pm. If no one posts here they are interested/coming I probably won't wait till 1:30.
We can go either direction from there but probably hit the gravel up Haul Rd.
Might hit the odd gated dead end by the sound of it with logging etc too bad

.

My WR will almost be finished the running in process by the time we are done.

I'm on call this weekend, so can't make it! Did this ride on the DR a couple of weeks ago, no major access issues, got round the forestry ok. Went in at Haul, stopped at Sheffield for a pie and back down the North side. Have a good one!

hmmm bikes out of action until next weekend... tempted to take the tenere but the the rear is a bit bald, and havent taken it thru water since last time it died crossing one of those streams (should be fixed now tho)

if im there im there but looks doubtful at this stage

Between ChCh & little river...
Whats the area like... wind etc its open to the sea & flat.
travel time to ChCh..
I want to move to ChCh , but want to be out of the city..
There some cheaper land there.. Cheap compaired to
ChCh city area's...
Wondering if its worth a trip to have a look..

Thanks Crim for your company today.
Twas a fairly straight forward ride except the locked gate navigation around Miners Bank Road which actually went well in the end too.
Fords all seemed less slippery than usual or was that the feel of the new bike?
I do want to gear it down a bit but have stuff to pay off first.

Only 85km to go with the running in, I predict plenty of action (probably only about half of it will be posted on this thread) in the coming months.

It's about 30minutes to town (that might get you to near Addington or Hornby).
I doubt the internet is broadband out there but don't actually know that for sure.
The beach is all stones, no sand. You can fish but not swim.
They don't really like it when you ride down the beach so we only do it occasionally... though you could probably do the little stony crossing to Bossu Rd pretty much as much as you want.
Most the houses out there look like run down batches.
I suspect it would be a lifestyle choice to live there.
Don't know what the sea wind is like.
That's as close as I've looked while passing usually on my way to Bossu which I will probably do more often now I'm on the WR.

Could possibly take a video camera out there next weekend and spin it around if there is a particular bit you want to see. Google maps does have some street view there already though.

I have been out there years ago when I lived in ChCh.. late 70s
but can't remeber more than the stoney beach...
That would exsplaine why the section is cheap & 1100sm
with power/water/phone on to it..

The section may be cheap but there are costs .............. you have to get a sixth finger sowed on so you can fit in, banjo lessons, a complete wardrobe change (I think bib overalls are their good going to town clobber)...................

and then there is the hassle of having to marry a family member ...................

I jest - but back up what TA says there are some run down "batchy" looking places out there - also a couple of "flash" places but you are right you'd have to like the wind she gets it from every which way down there!

Hey Carl,
Ryan and myself most likely doing Dalethorpe trail ride on 19th Aug if u are keen to try out the new WR.
Of all the trailrides I've done it's my favourite with forest, rivers, hill climbs and even some bog...all the good stuff
