We sometimes expect too much of these young guys. They are in the position they are in by having developed tunnel vision and devoted pretty much their entire life to becoming a GP rider. Then we expect them to be well rounded individuals?

We stick them under a TV microscope and are surprised that ocasionally someone looks a prat. Fuck I'm glad nobody was watching me on telly when I was their age...

Some are improving: Lorenzo has realised that he has missed a lot and is reportedly trying to educate himself. Pedrosa actually smiles sometimes, and he and Lorenzo have developed a mutual respect in place of their former antipathy.

Stoner is Stoner, some like him, some don't. At least he's consistent.

Oh, and I just forked for the half season video pass...

He is no more stuck up than what Wayne Gardiner was when he was the hot shot Aussie. MotoGP will be the lesser for not having Stoner there , until the next guy comes along.

In case any of you don't already know, the LCR team put out a magazine, "Inspire". Yes, Bradl features large, but so do other riders both current and historic. They also do articles on paddock personalities from other teams, other famous people - and tasty looking ladies.

It's a classy little number, if it appears somewhat erratically.

Stoner took some of his crew from Ducati with him to Honda, and I think you'll find one thing he always does is use the term 'we' not 'I'. He's extemely loyal to his team...hence why he lashed out at Rossi and Burgess. Because he saw what they were saying about the set up of the Ducati as a slight on them.

Do yourself a favour. Next time he wins a race...check how he says 'we' worked well together, and 'we' found something that worked, and 'we' had a good race.

When he bins it, as he did in Germany...check how it turns into 'I' made a mistake. Not 'We'.

One of the podcasts I listened to reported that a lot of people in the GP paddock were pleased Stoner is leaving because of the unremitting negativity surrounding him.

"Straight up"? Not always. He recently fired a rant at Dorna about a rule change when everybody in the paddock knew that the change was initiated at the request of Honda. Apparently he is familiar with the expression, "Do not bite the hand that feeds you."
(Even if he has never quite managed to figure out where the money actually comes from...)

His latest shots at Rossi are mostly fair enough but there is apparently at least one error. People who know more than me maintain that Burgess' quote about it taking 80 seconds to fix the bike was not made in respect of the Ducati or any of the other factory bikes but a satellite bike. Although this statement has often been attributed to Burgess, I'd like to see the original quote.

I think everybody realises now what a brilliant job Stoner did on the Ducati. The fact that Ducati have signed Dovizioso is apparently construed as an indication that they intend to try and fix the bike. Had they signed Crutchlow it would have indicated that they were trying to fluke another Stoner.

Last night I read a short history of champions who had returned to a make where they previously enjoyed success. Not at all encouraging, some won a GP or two but none of those listed won another championship.

I hope Yamaha don't knobble Rossi's bike and that we get to see the best man win. Whoever that may be.

Pete, just like you I say it as I see it! Casey is an amazingly talented rider, just the sad fact that due to his up bringing, he has NO people skills. Mum and Dad wanted him to be a proffesional racer so took him out of the normal society upbringing style, ie no school etc

Re his wife, it takes one to know one

The people I hang out with here, actually know Casey and his wife very personally, no they are not as you described, they are just realistic honest folk whom also like you and I, say it as it is.
