Thumbs up Great Barrier Island Adventure Tour

There seemed to be enough interest shown in the recently conducted poll to run a ride on the island so hopefully this will translate into actual numbers.

    Here are the details.

When: Friday November 23rd to Sunday November 25th 2012
This date has been decided on with consideration to accommodation and ferry bookings and other adventure rides on around this time of the year.

How to get there : Sealink ferries Ph 0800 732 546 Website Link HERE

Leaves from Brigham Street, Wynyard Wharf downtown Auckland.
Early bird special if booked and paid before end of October $199.00 for bike & 1 rider ( otherwise $220.00 ).
    Leave Auckland: Friday 8.00am
Leave Tryphena : 3.00 pm Sunday
    4 hour sailing time.
Note .... Available space on the ferry will be the limiting factor at this time of year, so book early

Where: Great barrier Island staying at the Sunset Lodge Tryphena. Ph 09 429 0051
2 bedroom Beachfront Villas are available at a cost of $245.00 for 4 people ( $61.25 each ) per night. This location is right on the beach and is within walking distance of the Cafes / Bars / Restaurants & shops.

Studios are available for couples who prefer their own privacy.:love

We have to book complete units so send me a PM with your details and i will group 4 people together in a room, unless you have a group of 4 or want to book a unit just for yourself. Website link HERE.

Please Register on the calendar page HERE so we can keep track of numbers.

Ride will be suitable for all types of adventure bikes and riders including pillions

    Alternative Accomodation

    Note........

Alternative backpacker accomodation for those on a tighter budget is available at the stray possum lodge from $37.00 pp per night. HERE.

This is the place that i had origianly proposed to stay at, but after doing more research i found several bad online reviews about them being unfriendly and running out of water on a regular basis.
They were also not within walking distance of anything.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

But as this isn't the Great Barrier Island Walking Tour, it shouldn't prove a problem...

Stayed at the possum years back.
Seemed ok, but I was with a bunch of piss head fishermen, so I cant remember much.
I survived, so that is a + in my books.

Darn..my son is 21 on the Friday, I've taken my name off as the pitch for a 21st birthday weekend on the barrier wasn't warmly accepted, I can't understand why...

    Have fun

    Thumbs down Accomodation bookings.

As the uptake for this ride has been quite slow , the lady at sunset lodge has asked me to manage the bookings.

So we have to book complete units instead of beds .

If you want to stay here send me a PM and i will group 4 people together then book the unit, unless you have a group of 4 people or want a unit to yourself.

If I was up that way I'd be in, but I can't afford the extra leave to get there and back from here till after christmas. I have to take 9 days off over the break, and I only have 2 1/2 owing at the moment.
