Was you one of the bike cops parked up at the airport on friday, I assume waiting for the olympic team? Was going to stop and ask but had a plane to catch, and someone had pinched my car park.

There are 4 full time motorcycle Popos in Churchur.

One is recovering from a bad SMIDSY back in March. He will be back on the bikes in Oct or Nov. I was on a day off on Friday, so it was the other two at the airport.

The roster has two working each day, coz we have 2 bikes.

So, bring your donut vouchers, coz the odds of it being me are 1 in 3 at the moment, and will be 1 in 4 later in the year.

If its me I will say " well met KBer" . If its one of the others it'll be "donuts? Wot?".

    Feeling lucky, Punk?

You wanna lodge a complaint regarding the stolen car park?

    Tee hee.

I don't go fishing for extra offenses unless the punter fails the attitude test.

Sorry that you feel that I'm wasting your tax dollar by being reasonable. I'll be a bastard next time.

    Grrrrrr.

On the topic of SH75. How accurate is the Your Speed sign in Tai Tapu? Would be somewhat frustrating to get a ticket if riding to what the sign tells me my speedometer is out by.

The sign belongs the council. Can't speak for the accuracy, other than to say that it matched my calibrated speedo at 50 last time through Tai Tap.

I passed two of these signs further south a few hours apart and managed to get my digital speedo reading the same at them both. They came up with an 8km/h difference. Do not believe them, and whatever you do, do not rely on them. Even if they do get calibrated, because they are only advisory it will be a bit loose.

I pass two of these things daily up here. Often get different readings off them for the same reading on the digital speedo. Often too many other factors, like the car going the other way, how close is that car behind you? Is it reading you or one of the other vehicles? When the reading changes was it triggering you before or after. But even when you do get the road to yourself they never seem consistent.
As Berries says, treat them as advisories. Thanks to rastuscat you can know they will give you a rough idea of the inaccuracy of your speedo but as speedo accuracy changes due to weather, tyre wear etc this is still advisory only.

    Feedback

I wasn't working at the weekend. I'm working this weekend, as already stated.

A highway patrol sergeant was on SH75 on Saturday though, and he advises that he stopped 12 bikes.

4 had no warrant of fitness.

4 had no current vehicle licence i.e. registration.

4 riders had no motorcycle licence.

    1 rider was disqualified.

And we wonder why cops stop motorcyclists.

I haven't heard if any of the individual stops were multi offences, i.e. 1 bike/rider with no reg, wof, licence etc. Maybe. just haven't heard.

well, if those offences were just from the stopped bikes
then at least 1 was a multiple offence
since there are 13 offences adn 12 bikes.

out of 12 bikes stopped 4 riders got tickets. Only a third of motorcyclist break the law OR two thirds are good law abiding riders.

    Aint stats wonderful.

I would have to expect the 4 non wof's are also the 4 no rego's I'd be amazed if the same 4 had no licence's... I wonder why they were singled out and pulled? bikes proberly look like shit and they be wearing scruffy tooth past tubes, or hairy loud europeans/yanks.

Thing is some always ride with no wof/reg and some like myself whom was out yesterday less wof/reg were so as I went and spent $600 on new rubber rings, now to get wof all so as I can have rego.
Yesterdays weather was mint and Id say a few could'nt resist the erge to ride be it with no reg/wof, do the crime do the time no issues here life is a gamble reguardless, what I'm saying is its not deliberate law braking cos you can, shit at what we pay for rego we cant all afford to be so, all year round. I think with what we do pay we have spent enough over the summer months to sneak out for a spin like yesterday.
I also have several bikes/cages currently reg/wof so it aint like I'm not paying my dues for a sunny arvo scoot to the bike shop.
Wrong all the same yes, myself bigger things to worry about.
    cheers DD

Okay, so assuming that it was 4 riders who had no licence, no wof and no reg, it was 4/12 (33%) who were offending.

That's what makes it worth stopping motorcyclists just for a check.

    Imagine the outrage.

ohh yeah its not good odds... and looks bad for all riders, just like the few that cause the complaints from locals on that road.
