    Moving right along...
After fuel and catching up on txt's I made my way back towards Rotorua and Taupo, along the same roads I ridden the day before
I bypassed Taupo and had lunch in Turangi

Still getting over the big brekky from the morning
I've never ridden down the Dessert rd before so carried on h/way 1, now I know why was still a little cool

I poked the front wheel up a couple of side tracks to relieve the boredom

I didn't go tooo far as it was slippery as a slippery thing and I didn't want to get out of my depth. I also discovered that despite the bike weighing more than 200 kg it's very easy to pick up
I carried on down h/way 1 and picked up a wee something for Mrs J for being a good sport The rest of the days just me riding and being alone with my thoughts, so I won't bore you with that, besides.... you wouldn't understand
    Another day ends.....

Except for another food shot, 3 course meal,

The next day was just a ferry ride and a reunion
    The bikes introduce themselves...

Queen Charlotte drive was crap with grit, damp roads and old slips but still scenic

A brief stop at Slip inn in Havelock for some chowder

And then over the Wangamoas, more although Mrs J did waggle her finger at me when I got a little sideways on a wet bend, and then home before the rain

    That is all really.....

    Nice Jatz.
You didn't really fill in how you find the bike. Ergos? power, offroadability - the seat ( I actully know the answer to that one-ouch) compared to the DR & Big etc how does it compare?

Most importantly- when can I ride it?

Ergos ? Good, maybe some small bar risers, but that's all.
Power ? I think this... sums it up F.I. will take some getting used to but there is a fix available for the snatchiness, read about it on ADV rider. Or I could learn to ride proper.
Offroad ability ? I think the rider will be the limiting factor there, however there is always room for improvement on the suspension
Seat ?... I was kinda sore (hip and arse) after our ride the other weekend and that was only 200k, I could've carried on to Bluff on the 800 today
Compared to the 650 and the 750 ? The 750 ergos fit me well and I like the power delivery, it's just old The 650 is a good bike, it did everything and was reliable, it just didn't "fit" and there's no denying they're about as exciting as a plate of boiled cabbage.
You ride it ? You can have a ride when you come and put that new power socket in the shed.

"So has Piglet "borrowed" it to get to tec yet?"

No... not yet, it was pissin down today. He did hop on it last night and the phrase "cheshire cat" springs to mind

Wondered who had scored that bike, the800 is the first bike I go for in the garage. I am surprised the snappynish hasnt been sorted.
The shop run an updated mapping program an it seemed to smooth out the power delivery. Maybe I just got used it. 1st gear is rather low on the technical stuff. Congragulations those bikes are so much fun you will enjoy the bejesus out of it.

mrs jatz is going for a ride

Just letting everyone know that I will be hitting the road for a week unsupervised: from the 8th of Sept.
The plan so far is to go down the Westcoast and find some whitebait and bendy bits of road.
Then on to Milford coz I haven't been there yet.
Shrek I'm coming to see you after that so be ready it's okay I'll ring first so you can make yourself decent before I get there :
I also want to go out to Akaroa coz I haven't been there either.
    I'll be on Jatz's castoff DR650.
Some hello's along the way would be nice.

Update us Cantabs as you approach with what day you'll be heading to Akaroa and if possible we'll show you how to get there via the backroads
Enjoy the ride, Milford is a must
