    Bike down

Stopped to help with a downed bike and rider, at the same time as the emergency services turned up at the scene of an accident north of Wanganui this morning; just found out that unfortunately the rider did'nt make it. Thoughts go out to his friends and family........

that is very sad to hear. Its really unpleasant being first on the scene, I have been there.

Not nice at all. I heard it was at night on a straight and luckily no other vehicle involved. Deepest sympathies to the family.

The bike and rider was heading towards Wanganui at some time between 11pm and 2am when it crossed the centre line just past Maxwell township. Unfortunately he went through an eight wire fence and ended in teh paddock. I and another motorist came across the scene at 630am and the emergency services turned up at the same time.
No one knows what happened....... It was just off a slight curve and unfortunately no road / street lights.
